I'm Confused.. Will it grow here and how high?
Why are many zones (or plant sizes also) listed for a specific plant? Kiwi example- Actinidia deliciosa
I didn't see any additional comment on the page explaining this either.
This seems common in the listings, and I wasn't finding an explanation elsewhere. I assume it's a convention that I just haven't picked up on yet.
Mutiple Hardiness Zones
Many plants are capable of growing in multiple zones. If a zone is listed, then the plant is recommended for that zone, The fuzzy Kiwi that you mentioned is a tropical vine. It cannot stand a hard freeze. So typically it is marketed for zone 8 or higher.
It is a vine, so the size will depend upon conditions, In perfect conditions it will grow much longer than in an area with less fertility, warm days, or water. Pruning is another important variable. Most plants especially perennials will vary widely in size, depending on growing conditions.
