Scarlet Creeper Ipomoea luteola

Clinton Township, MI(Zone 6a)

Okay, since I bungled my morning glory purchase last year without checking here first I won't make that mistake again this year.

I got free seeds with my Diane's Seeds order. They are Scarlet Creeper, Ipomoea luteola

If I'm worried about them self seeding and becoming invasive should I pass on sowing them?

Thanks in advance

Jennifer - You might want to read the comments on the PlantFile for this vine: http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/96716/

It will probably produce lots of seeds which may become volunteers. I would try growing it in a pot sitting on a concrete patio or paver. That way when the seeds fall, you can easily see them and pick them up to control how many start growing later. Or you can just pull up the volunteers you don't want growing .

You should consider Ipomoea nil seeds. The vines don't produce as many seeds and living up north, they probably won't germinate (or very few of the seeds will) due to the fact that they don't survive as well if they freeze as other MG seeds do. :-)
