I'm working on a project to plant California poppies ( Escholzia californica ) around the city of Oakland, especially along public transit lines ( which are very ugly and barren ). As a college student I have very little money to buy seed. I'm asking you, my fellow gardeners, for donations of non-hybridized California poppy seed. If you have more than you can plant or trade please email me: apatton@cca.edu and I will send a self addressed stamped envelope that you can mail seeds to me in. When plants begin to appear I will post before and after photos. The idea is to bring beauty to marginal spaces and attention to California's state flower. Eventually I would like to expand this project to include other Bay Area natives, but for now I am focusing on the poppy.
