Don't have anything new blooming in the gessie dept-- but do have Amaryllis papillio-- If I could only have one amaryllis-- this would be the one!

Wow! What a fantastic amaryllis!

wow, what a beauty,

Brownsville, KY(Zone 6a)

It's beautiful. The one I had never bloomed. I was told to not give it a resting period and let it grow year round. What kind of growing conditions do you provide for your plant?

Dover AFB, DE(Zone 7a)

What a beauty!

Jasper, AR(Zone 7a)

I don't do anything special-- I keep it in the greenhouse in winter-- outside in the summer. It rests when it wants to and wakes up when ready. As you know I am a reformed succulentophile;) so in the past it has stayed in a pretty chilly greenhouse and been kept dry. This winter we have an attached GH and it stays at least 10° warmer at night than the old one. It is blooming a little earlier this year. I have had it at least 7 years and it blooms every year. I seriously divided it this summer and wondered if it it would still bloom--don't guess I made it too mad ^_^

Brownsville, KY(Zone 6a)

It seems very happy with your growing conditions to produce such a lovely bloom.

I grow and love amaryllis. That is a stunning flower, just gorgeous!

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

That is really a magnificent cultivar of Amaryllis, Gran. Hello Cicada and Sally, too.

Whitsett, NC(Zone 8a)

Ok, I have no amaryllis pix, so this will have to do. Believe it or not, people at work actually stopped to comment on it!

Oh my goodness ... Gran, That Pappilo is so beautiful! I joined in the Amaryllis Co-Op last fall and I SHOULD have ordered that one! Arrrgh! I almost did and then changed my mind! I sure hope someone does another Amaryllis Co-Op this year ... I want more! They can be grown as landscape plants in the garden down here. I dug some up last fall when I was weeding a bed and potted them up. I may just leave them in containers. We have such a problem with weeds in flower beds here! No matter what I try, I can't seem to keep the weed population in check. I gave four or five Amaryllis away for Christmas presents. I have only two in bloom right now.

This is Amaryllis 'Aphrodite'

and, Apple Blossom ... which for some reason didn't have a very tall bloom stalk but has had four bloom heads.

I bought one Amaryllis bulb called 'Jewel' ... the one and only fragrant Amaryllis. The bulb seems to be rotting. :(
The pot was sitting outside in a location where the sprinkler's got it so it was waaay too wet when I happened to check on it. I've removed the bulb from the pot and am drying it in hopes of saving it.

Jasper, AR(Zone 7a)

Lin--Aphrodite is gorgeous-- I almost ordered that one-- got Nymph instead--but it doesn't look like the photo on the site AT ALL.
Edited to add-- my papillio doesn't look like the others in PF--BUT I paid big bucks for it years ago--it is s'posed to be correct.

Gran, That is a beauty! Love that bloom with the layered look to the petals! I thought I bought Nymph, can't remember for sure though. When I potted them all up, I forgot to label some. I need to go back and find the order to see what exactly I got. I know one person backed out of the co-op so so she had some leftovers that I got too, just can't remember what they all were.

Gran--I used to have a pappillio like yours years ago. The one they sell today is "Pappillio Improved--and has a slightly different appearence. I like the old one better, and when you repot, would like to buy a bulblet fron you if the plant produces them

Jasper, AR(Zone 7a)

Phoebe-- I have a bulblet-- but wouldn't dream of sellingyou one-- sure would take an AV leaf or 2 in trade;) I have put it on my list for you ^_^

I found this one with the blooms opening this afternoon. I didn't tag it but I think this is Amaryllis 'Pasadena'

I was at Wal-Mart earlier today and they had Amaryllis Bulb's with containers marked down to $2.50. Originally $10 each. There were only four left so I got my sister two more. She had never heard of or seen Amaryllis before (she's not into gardening and plants) and I gave her one for Christmas. She and her husband loved it ... forget the name but a pretty pinkish color. She wants more for planting in the yard.

Beautiful amaryllis!!!

Is it winter anywhere? LOL. The weather is so messed up in southern Alabama, the spring flowers are blooming and winter hasn't gotten here yet.

As I slid into work this AM, and we have a big storm coming Wednesday, I'm not feeling much sympathy here!

Jasper, AR(Zone 7a)

Oh it's winter here all right--20° freezing rain today, tonight and tomorrow morning. Wasn't s'posed to start until tonight--30 min after I got home from town (noonish) it started--Wheeew!!! I didn't even want to drive on that junk.

(Zone 1)

I can't imagine driving in snow and ice ... have never tried it and don't ever want to, LOL. We had a high of 81 here today and it's supposed to be 82 tomorrow. But, a cold front is coming through later this week with cooler temp's. Looks like I'm going to be dragging the orchids and possibly a few hoya's inside because we are supposed to have a few nights in the mid 40's.

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

It has been cold here since yesterday, Lin and tonight is going to be a real feel of 33. I have had the heaters going all day and decided to just leave them on tonight and not haul in plants again........because it is only one night this cold. (actual temp will be 41 or 42)

Pretty plants, jannich. I didn't know you had this mild of weather to produce such beauties this early....

Lin, I think I may try and find amaryllis to naturalize...........they are so pretty......

Land of OZ, CT(Zone 6a)

Found a surprise when I went to shut the drapes tonight. There was no sign of this a week ago!

How magnificent an orchid! I am soooooo jealous, Phoebe.

Land of OZ, CT(Zone 6a)

No need for jealously--some of them are as easier than streps! Just don't bloom as often.

Williston, ND

you should have seen the orchids at violet showcase, wow

it was singing and was so pretty

I went out to clean up the patio after a wind storm and found a few blooming plants. Here is a tiny Rhipsalis pilocarpa. It is so dainty.

Three of my orchids are blooming too. I thought I had the pictures on the computer, but I can't find them. I'll have to go looking for them. They're here somewhere. I have to go pick up my granddaughter from HS. Both parents are working today. See you later!!!

Noblesville, IN(Zone 5a)

Great plants blooming. Lin I love your beautiful plants. The only thing I have blooming is a Christmas cactus.

I still have a couple of Christmas Cactus blooming but they are fading fast. I found this Rhipsalis elliptica in bud and bloom this morning.

A pretty Christmas Cactus bloom. It's been hanging on the deck in the sun, the reason for the red color in the stems.
