Pillow Talk

I just bought Supreme Dreams by Carpenter.
It says the perfect pillow;miracle visco-elastic "memory".
I don't like it;so I'm back to square one.
What's your favorite, can't live without pillow?

Haven't found one yet.
All to big and fat and suffocate me lol

Actually the best pillow I have is the throw pillow on the couch ha ha

Hotel Synthetic pillow. No, I didn't steal it from a hotel. It was one Linen and Thnigs carried. The insides of it are loose, almost feels like down, but it's not. Wish I'd gotten a spare or two.

I don't like memory foam at all. My pillow that I use and love right now is one I bought at Target, it's 100% polyester inside and out, the outside of it is like a velvet, which makes it very soft even with a pillowcase on it, and the inside feels like some sort of batting material. It's not too big or small and it's even machine washable and dryer safe, but you have to wash it a certain way per instructions.

LOL Mary!

Mine are Sleep Innovations. They are Memory Foam on one side and down on the other. DH likes the MF but I like the down. It's just supportive enough for both of us.

crissyr what's the name of your pillow? Is it soft or firm?
I don't like the memory foam because it was like sleeping on a brick, way to firm for me.
We don't have a Linens and Things around here.

I have two that I alternate, depending on mood. Both are homemade but super easy. I bought 4 zippered pillow covers. In one I put a bunch of buckwheat hulls (about 16 cups-I think). In another I put a bunch of foam chips (about half of the bag that Walmart sells). I then closed the zippers and stitched the zipper-pull closed. I put the remaining two covers over the `pillows`I just created so each pillow had a double layer.

I LOVE these pillows because they can be shaped how you want them. Also, they are very easy to customize to the amount of filling that you like. I have also thrown both type in the washing machine with no problems. I dry the foam chip pillow in the dryer but hang the buckwheat pillow to dry. I honestly don`t know how anyone can stand the flat foam kind of pillow, I always end up with a sore neck when I`m forced to use those.

Linens and Things just went out of business. If you have a Bed, Bath, and Beyond they probably sell the same things.

I don't know what brand it is, it doesn't say! It's a medium firmness, soft but firm, the only pillow that was velvety on the outside, bought at Target. I have to go to Target tomorrow at lunch, I'll look to see if they have them, and what brand they are LOL!

Thanks,that would be great.

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Well, due to weather issues, (icy roads, high winds, etc) I haven't made it to Target yet. It's supposed to be sunny today so I'll go today. I'm sorry for the delay and I hope they still sell them lol!

Fallbrook, CA(Zone 10b)

I'm a pillow freak, so I spent $180.00 on a goose down pillow with 1500 thread count ticking about 6 years ago. I've probably spent twice that much since on various 20-30 dollar pillows and none are nearly as nice. Got it at Bed Bath and Beyond. It was in the Beyond department.

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Well, Target didn't have any. I think it's a Target brand that's Firm and has that soft velvety fabric on the outside.

Thanks crissy.
I hope everything your way is ok.
Becareful around that ice, that stuff is bad.

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Oh thank you! I hate it. When the news says, "Don't go out if you don't absolutely have to!" I stay home, not being used to it I get scared and that's what they don't need out there, a scared chick LOL The ice and rain is gone, we're 50 degrees and sunny today. Woo Hoo!!

We got replacements pillows for our Sleep Innovations and got them at Target. The still have memory foam but it's very soft, not hard like the others. Very squeezable! You hardly notice the MF.

What brand is it?

(Zone 7a)

Sleep Innovations, Supreme Combo.

Thanks ^_^

Need to check those out am in need of new pillows. I found the MF to be hot.

(Mary) Poway, CA(Zone 10a)

yeah it is hot. Always start out with memory foam in the winter so you'll be used to it before summer. I have a memory foam topper on the bed and I love it, but it took me 3-4 weeks before I was sure I wanted to keep it on.

OK I am going to take the plunge.....
to me pillows are like bras..... you keep spending money and searching for the right one.... and you can't find it because there isn't any such creature!!

This is what I did (keep in mind you got to get through the first week...after that.... it is easy sailing.....

Give up the pillow. If you don't have problems breathing... and need a pillow...just give it up. If I had problems breathing..I'd raise the head of the bed to see if it would help before I went back to a pillow.

I have not been able to sleep on my stomach for forever.... the small of my back would KILL me... now - no sweat. Waking up with neck aches, head aches, shoulder aches, hip aches..... I searched and searched for the right pillow.... couldn't find it. Now since no pillow....no problems. I find that I occasionally tuck a hand ...sort of cup.. my head if I lay on my side.. but that soon comes out. I thought about how we were meant to sleep ..and I figured if we didn't "come" WITH a pillow...maybe we don't need one...who said we did anyway?? It is like being a kid again..on a crib mattress... it is wonderful! Try it. .... you just may like it...

Putnam County, IN(Zone 5b)

You may be on to something there...A few times in the last few months..at some point during the night I have slid off the pillow...there fore not using it. And I slept really good those nights.

Hillsborough, NC(Zone 7b)

It certainly was a wake up call for me nanny (I'm a nanny at 56 ---maybe I should have your name) anyway, I don't know why it took so long...

(but I still wear a bra - uncomfortable or not) but I did quit looking for the perfect red lipstick (doesn't exist at least not for my coloring) and now realize it was pink/rose all along!!

Putnam County, IN(Zone 5b)

LOL... about nanny at 56! I am 53, became a nanny at 42, 1956 year I was born...I am not very creative with my screen names..in fact use the same one most places!!

yup... I have yet to find a bra I really like...and I am cheap too, so don't shop at the likes of Victoria Secret or such. Back in my teens I did go braless....loooooong time ago! lol

Hillsborough, NC(Zone 7b)

those VS bras ----- not comfortable ----so you are not missing anything. ....I have friends that swear by them... of course I can't even stand for my socks to be tight around my ankle. But I found a perfect sock... still hoping for the rest..............
