Sorry pigeon - we crossed! Thank you so much. What is that gorgeous flower?
Happy Birthday victorgardener!!
Oh, so glad you like it---Alstroemeria (Peruvian lily). One of my favorite plants, which I managed to kill every time I planted it until 3 years ago, and now that I've figured out how to keep them alive, I can't get enough of them! This particular one I bought in a very economical "grab bag" from the grower (http://davesgarden.com/products/gwd/c/644/), so I'm not sure of the varietal.
Incredibly long-lived cut flowers.
I never tried to grow any, but might have to start! Guess I'd have to bring it indoors, but it certainly looks worth it.
Thanks so much, Harper! Hope to see you posting more! Thanks for the encouraging crocus shot - won't be too long now.
Thanks VV! Hmm - a viburnum, perhaps?
Now, even though I'm from smack in the middle of horse country, I'm more than a one-trick pony. I'll chalk it up to the fever speakin'...
Look closely - and note that this photo was taken in Seattle at the Washington Park Arboretum last Saturday. I don't think I can even grow this species here in KY.
I'm still going through the rest of the pics. I know there's some forlorn viburnums in the stack somewhere.
Ha! I didn't even click on the pic, VV! Just assumed. An alternate arrangement - shame on me.
Thanks Sherrie!
Happy bday, Victor
Thank you Kathleen, Kate and Shelly! Which clem is that, Kate?
Well, redchic01, when it's winter here, you get your jollies where you can.
You aren't that far from where I took that picture. Do you recognize it? I can tell it's a Cotoneaster of some sort, but never did find a label to positively ID it.
Good looker for a moist benign climate (like the Hudson Valley).
It's a C.'norememberis'.
I will look for the tag when I go out to scoop the Daily Dog Nuggets.
haha... Yes, I definitely recognise the silly thing. And I call it silly because it's everywhere around here and can never remember what kind of Cotoneaster that it definitely is. With a little luck and a few minutes, I might be able to come up with it. :-p
Yes, i've heard that name many times before Katye!! Although, i think that it has been changed to Cotoneaster Lacteus, although I could be wrong.
I like cotoneaster, but never grew it. The horizontalis makes a nice ground cover.
Sherrie - thanks for the new location!
Victor - Clematis 'Mikelite' - one of Deb's (Silver Star) many clems that I have collected. It is much more of a true wine colour in person - the picture makes it look too pink, and no way to correct it without making the rest look funky.
The Cotoneaster is very common here; don't know, but lacteus is stirring in the memory part of my peabrain.
Warning to heed: always scoop poop with a double bag & take your time. 1 wall plastic bags can render a most unpleasant experience.
Thanks Kate - don't have that one. Debbie's stuff is the best.
Thank you Sharon! I think there's some kind of holiday thing too.
Woohoo, I made it before the end of your birthday, Victor! You are one popular guy.....I almost missed the midnight deadline reading all these wonderful wishes! Now, please add my best wishes to your long list of admirers, and I hope by the time you read this you are feeling much better and your special day has been full of joy! Happy Happy Birthday, my friend!!
Louise
I just knew that no one was working, and I heard fireworks at midnight, lots of hoopla.....so I wasn't sure, just thought it was one of those weird times when the postal service took a break.
But now I know the real reason, and I won't forget next time.
You know, don't you that if you had been born just a little earlier, say just before the prior midnight, you could get your SS a year earlier.
Ahhhh, c'est la vie.
But go ahead with the celebration anyway, even with that sad news.
Happy Birthday, Victor. Hope you got some good garden stuff.
Warm wishes VIC!!!! Hope it was great! Birthday boy, first of the year, how lucky can you get!
Thanks so much, Louise, Cyndie, Clem and Jen!
Louise - wish I could say I am feeling better, but I'm not. Waiting for the antibiotic to kick in. It's hideous if I bend my head at all. I'm sure I'll feel a lot better by tomorrow - thanks.
Sharon - my dad used to remind me about the missed dependent for taxes too! I would tell him to talk to mom.
Great colors, Jen and Louise!
Using your Neti pot??
Not today. I think if I tried, I would end up on the floor!
victor - the picture is one my sister took at her old house in Scottsdale. Probably is prickly pear.
that bad huh? I made the mistake once of flying while I had a sinus infection. ugh
Victor, sorry you are ailing. Birthday wishes and Happy New Year to you and your family. DH and I celebrated today by eating our ritual cheese cake on the Jan 1. From now on I will think of it as your birthday cake. Too bad you didn't get to enjoy it. DH made a good one this year. Feel better. Patti
Happy Burpday Victor! A New Year's Baby, cool. :) Best to you in the new year!
Thank you, Patti. That cake looks mighty yummy! Looks very nice among the flowers too.
Thank you, Pam.
Thanks so much, Kass. Beautiful roses, as always. I appreciate the blessings and the reminder of warm days to come!
Just finished my cake a few minutes ago. It was chocolate so my boys were happy!
