One of my Oak trees is loaded with these galls, will the tree be OK or should I take it down?
Oak Tree Galls?
Galls generally don't do serious damage to a tree, although they might slow its growth a bit. Rather than cutting the tree down, you might try a systemic pesticide like Imidacloprid.
Here is some info from your neck of the woods http://www.ento.psu.edu/extension/factsheets/gallsOnOak.htm and some more reading http://www.ca.uky.edu/entomology/entfacts/ef408.asp
Though unsightly, the galls aren't particularily harmful, as KS mentioned.
