Just picked up a roll of Parchment Paper that reads: "Genuine Parchment Paper Now Improved!"...how then can it be Genuine?
Also how bad was Tide when it first came out; it's been Improved yearly for Years.
How Bad Was It?
Improved often means Redesigned the Package So You Are Getting Less!
Dog food is the same way. New improved formula for dogs! Just smells like the same ground up stuff they always pack in the can if you ask me.

I would like to know who tastes the pet food to know if it's improved or not.
And if it says "New and Improved", isn't it something wholly different?
I think it is improved by them finding a way to add even more water to it, and still make it look and smell the same LOL
kawnjin, i agree that New means New; which means that the previous product doesn't exist. and that genuine means "the first"; so it can't still be genuine if it's improved. Those are now different products.
sallyg, I know what you mean; alot of products that use to be a pounds worth are now 13 oz;;or canned goods that use to be 15oz are now 12 or 13 oz. I notice that dog and cat food bags are now 18lbs instead of 20. I'm sure the list of Re pkging to make smaller sizes is long.
Oh but that's just the thing.
The packaging stays the same size.
THE tiny WRITING at the very bottom states a smaller amount is actually IN the package.
I guess they think people are stupid. Do most people realize they are being ripped off I wonder?
This is a pet peeve of mine.
I do not eat many packaged premade items, but the hubby likes the frozen chimmies that we get at the local store. There are 10 in a package and that makes 2 meals. We had a meal a week or so ago and when I tried to make them last night, only 3 fell out of the package. I had to get my glasses on to see that there are only 8 to a package now. (the print was really small)
The bathroom tissue that one of the girls ordered for work, individually wrapped, has a proud statement of "recycled bathroom tissue"
I don't know about you, but toilet paper is something that should not be recycled. (I know they don't mean they recycle toilet paper to make the paper, but it does not sound good)
Then I noticed that the large fire extinguisher has a big "non flammable" sticker on it. Why?
Are most consumers this stupid?
Speaking of stupid people.
How about
'do not iron clothes while wearing'
'do not use hair dryer while sleeping.
LOL if you are asleep, how could you use it?
I read something somewhere that said something similar to this
I don't believe in killing off people, but let's just stop plastering everything with warning labels and see what happens?!
I mean do we really want these people procreating? :)
sigh...Even the holiday popcorn tins are less. I bought one this year and brought it home and set it beside a can I have had for a few years and it was a good 2 inches shorter than the old can and the diameter was a bit smaller too. I use the cans for all kinds of things. Oh, but the price was still up there.
This example is kind of trivial but I eat alot of popcorn. LOLOL
I think I'll plaster New and Improved on my backside for new years day.
Oh, the empty air in boxes--sheesh yes I see it a lot. We got a new bottle of mustard which had an inch of airspace in it. Opaque bottel so you can't tell. Mustard is dirt cheap anyway!! why mess with it, they must have only earned an added penny per bottle.
Yes, the popcorn tin we got does look sort of small~~~
And the popcorn doesn't taste as good, AFAIC.
I like the little beanbaggie things that come in shoes that say 'Do Not Eat'. Also the 'Do Not Remove' tags on pillows. I guess the Pillow Police hunt you down if you remove them.
One of my biggest pet peeve about the new and improved formulas is when there is nothing wrong with the old and not improved formula. Ok several years there was a taco sauce, I am having trouble thinking of the brand but it has been around for years. I was eating it when I was in grade school and I graduated in 1986. They had to have been making money or it wouldn't have lasted so long. They "improved" it and it was awful. OK, maybe not awful but no where as good as it was. It was so changed that I didn't care for it anymore and switched brands. I even called the 1-800 number with a comment about it. I take my tacos very serious. Its my favorite food. LOL
After about a year the packaging went back to the old style. I kept track because I really liked the product. I tried it again and they were trying to trick us because it was the "improved" taste in the old packaging. I gave up and just eat Pace now.
Why mess with something that works? Look what happened to coke when they changed their formula. They had to go back to the original. Don't fix it if it ain't broke.
Like when they "improved" the Coke formula! Nobody bought it because it tasted nasty.
Oh, yeah, Amber, as you went into the taco sauce story, the new Coke debacle came to mind.
Oh kwanjin, the popcorn is *Improved* , it's supposed to taste this way LOL
Oh. NOW you tell me! LOL
