Oh my gosh...VOL. 166!!!!

As we wind down 2008 and look forward to the start of 2009, I would like to thank each and every one of the posters on the Birdwatching Forum for sharing and contributing. It seems this Forum has exploded over the last year. We have such a variety of people and birds to be found here. We truely span the globe. I have come so far in what I have learned from where I was a year ago. And I owe it all to you!!

Nice pic of the Pileated. I would love to see the few we have around here come down to the feeder. A large flock of Sea Gulls flew over this morning and made me wonder if they migrate? I only got a shot of a solitary straggler.

Looks' like an immature Red Shouldered Hawk to me, but I am no expert at identifying Raptors.

OK, I officially give up trying to identify raptors.....

American Goldfinch from the other day on my handy branch!

This has been a great year. I appreciate everyone here making me feel welcome. I may not be a regular contributor but I love looking at all the great pictures. I've learned a lot about ID'ing birds and hope to continue learning more in 2009.

Here's couple shots of the just ID'd Female Purple Finch. I caught this lady at the local nature center today while me and my daughter toured the exhibits. I'd never seen this bird so I snapped a few shots thru the window

I have mixed nuts in the feeder for the squirrels, but the Cardinal was eating sunflower seed, Methodical.

Here is one of the many American Goldfinches in our yard.

We had several Purple Finches here yesterday...here is a male.

and the female.

A young or female White-crowned Sparrow.

Also had this female House Finch, we haven't seen too many of these.

Here's is a Carolina Wren exiting the worm feeding cage.

The Brown-headed Cowbirds come everyday...many at a time, here is a female.

Last one...the Dickcissel is still here and I'll bet he wishes he was in So. America!

Oh that poor little Dickcissel! I wish he had gone south too!

Sun is out today again. So maybe I can get out and get some pics!

I love our migrating White Pelicans. They'll be here till spring.
