Happy Holidays to All !!

Fallbrook, CA(Zone 10b)

My wish for each of you is that you're warm, well-fed, and Merry...little snow, little rain...it's all good.

Rancho Cucamonga, CA

A very Merry Christmas to all! Looks like a little rain in the forecast here...but I have to admit, it sure makes it feel more like Christmas.
Enjoy your day everyone.

Whew! The presents are bagged, the deviled eggs are finished and in the fridge ready to go to the family gathering today.
You guys/gals mean a lot to me, and you are the best present a kid could ask for!
May your Holidays be filled with Light, Love and Laughter! : )

I suspect that Anza may be getting a dusting of snow...how is it out there?

Menifee, CA(Zone 9a)

I just had to share this with you. (No one is excited about it around here, except me!)
As some of you know, I've been having a Blue Christmas, missing my Dad, who got me started with DG. You can imagine my surprise when I was getting ready to go out this afternoon to the family gathering when I discovered this.
It's labeled "Blue Angel". Never bloomed for me before today. I think my Dad is wishing me a Merry Christmas! : )

SingingWolf, I was thinking about you this morning and that this must be a difficult Christmas for you---we miss your dad's wonderful photos and posts, too. But also I was thinking how lucky we were that he got you started on DG. Thanks for sharing "his" orchid with all of us!

Merry Christmas everyone!!!

Well, what a thoughtful daddy he is, too! Merry Christmas, SingingWolf - and everyone here, there, and everywhere.

Menifee, CA(Zone 9a)

Right back at you all! : )
Since I am Dad's Legacy to you, I figured he wanted me to share his Merry Christmas with all his friends. He's still with us! : )
Lovely, Rainy Christmas Day!
Hope you are all enjoying it as much as I am!
Merry Christmas! May all of our gardens flourish this year!

wcgypsy- no snow, just off and on mist and rain. I'm not sorry though, I got my fill of the white stuff last week-two feet total, about 14 inches that stuck around for too long! We might get some tonight, I guess.

Singing Wolf, I'm glad that you have been given that comforting Christmas present.

Hope everyone had the Christmas Day they worked and waited so long and hard for!

Happiest of Holidays to all - just listening to the rain with my little Rosie, my new Chihuahua puppy!

No. San Diego Co., CA(Zone 10b)

Awww...Rosie's first Christmas. Pictures? We have beautiful sunshine and blue skies here - nice Boxing Day.

Menifee, CA(Zone 9a)

So KC, glad you survived your trip to Julian. Now, please tell us all what Boxing Day is, besides the day after Christmas? I get real confused about that one. I know it involves bonfires and liquid libations. : )
We are having Sunshine and (cold) Blue skies here too!
Jman, Baby pictures! : 0 You must share! : )
gardenza, thank you, it has given me a certain sense of peace as well as comfort. It will become part of Dad's life story! : )

Best if I give you the link - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boxing_Day

There is the traditional BD, and the modern BD, of course. Now I think it's basically a shopping day and extra day off, unfortunately. But the spirit of the day kind of remains, I think, in some quarters. Being part of what would be the receiving end, I like the role reversal idea!

Menifee, CA(Zone 9a)

Thanks for the hyperlink, Kathleen. Now I get it.
Boxing Day probably had it's origins with the Saturnalia (gift giving). Then was changed by the Christians, to be a day when you give gifts to servants and those "less fortunate". Seems to have morphed into a shopping holiday in some countries now. In our country, it seems that Boxing Day (as traditionally celebrated in England) is the day before Christmas, and the modern version (shopping) is the day after Christmas. : )
In some ways, it resembles the Give Aways or Potlatches from Native American Indian Culture. The richest man in the tribe was often the one with the least possessions (because he gifted them to others who were in need, or deserving of the honor due to their actions). It was a huge honor to be both the giver and the recipient of the gifting. Potlatches often occurred during the winter months, in part because that is when everyone gathered together and lived (more or less) communally. It was a time of feasting, visiting and storytelling. It was also a time when tools and clothes were repaired or made in preparation for the spring. It was the time for the Winter Count. When the people, their herds, their history were counted and recorded. It is such a shame that so many of these records were lost. The people didn't number the years as we do, but rather by an event of significance that had occurred that year! i.e. The year we captured the herd of horses from the Blue Coats. : )
Don't know what brought all this to mind today!
It seems that cultures all over the world celebrate at this time of the year. Today starts the year of the Ox in Japan. The Ox represents prosperity! : )

SW, your Dad will always be in my heart.
Hope everyone's Christmas was wonderful...I know mine was! We had 25 people here, when you have a small house, the garage sure makes a huge dining room!

Menifee, CA(Zone 9a)

Thanks weegy! I don't miss him as much with my DG friends around! : )
You must be exhausted from so many guests! : )
We don't even have a garage, so it's a good thing we just had family here yesterday. It was such a beautiful day!
I'm glad you had a wonderful time, weegy! : )

I am a good exhausted...feeling quite happy about the way the day turned out. If we didn't have a garage, we'd be in big trouble. It was a beautiful day, except for the rain and the ice on the cars!
