I have a working turntable and a working 8 track player recorder. If only all of my 8 tracks tapes had not oxidized. Try and explain 8 track to the kids and grandkids. Tape on a loop.
Frigid temps - how are you all doing?
8 tracks were a pain in the butt. Especially if they were in a car and you were listening to something and you hit a bump and it flipped to the next track.
LOL never had the bump problem. I hated it when a song started on one track and finished on another. You had this fade out and then back in.
My older brother had them in his car (which I used when I could bribe him or beg him enough . . .). I love the tunes when it was working but the bumps would really mess up the vibe in the car.
Shoulda asked him to replace the shocks LOL.
Nah-it was more a case of Chicago streets and their huge potholes. They can suck a car right in them!
I think the fact that they no longer make 8 tracks, is the reason you no longer see matches anywhere. We have to move on to the butane grill lighters when match packs were no longer needed to stabalize an 8track while in the player so it wouldn't skip....
:)
Oh gosh I forgot about that. . . Thanks for reminding me of that other little quirk. I think I had to do that with my first cassette player in the car as well . . .
Maybe the reason that you no longer see 8 tracks is because you can't find a book of matches anywhere. ROFL
