liatris seeds

Pleasantville, NY(Zone 6a)

Does anyone know what liatris seeds look like? Are they sort of long with a whirligig on the top? Anybody know a link on this?

Yes Runew
They are long and narrow with a feather like fan shaped thing on the end.

Oh, goody Paulgrow,
I am now the proud owner of about 3 million long and narrows with fan at end.
Thanks a bunch,

If you sow the liatris seeds fresh, they come right up. If they are kept for a while, you must chill them to get them to come up. It's a built-in dormancy kind of thing. I just toss mine in the freezer for a few weeks, sow them and they come right up. This was just an FYI.

I'm soo glad I found this site. I have had these for years , and didn't know you could start them from seed. I received a gift of bulbs years ago and I will look for seeds on them. Learn something new everyday here at
