Well Pod, yesterday it was balmy hot -- mid 70'ish almost record high for this time of year, although frost arrived earlier this year. Today it's cooling down, which I'm glad so we can dodge the hot/cold air collision a brew for potential stormy weather. :-)
Here is my 'Pink Empress' Camellia to the back of the garden. Happy Holidays, fireside gathering. BTW, isn't it odd to see flowers in full bloom this time of year?

Very pretty Kim, I love camellias.
Josephine.
Thanks Josephine, since this didn't bloom until now. I'm uncertain whether it's a sasanqua or japonica C. I've posted the question on plant I.D., I'll share a bit more info. on the beauty as I find out more. :-)
I have an iris with buds that I spotted this afternoon!! It has been below freezing several days this month. If I remember correctly it made a showing early last year. Guess it is a double bloomer (noid purple).
I certainly enjoyed today's glorious weather! It was perfect, except for the Cowboys' embarrassing loss. I have a few days of vacation, so I'm just hanging out at home and relaxing. Working retail in December is horrible!

I forgot that Parsley is evergreen in our zone, after the hard freeze, I thought everything were frost bitten, but these!
Oh the Camellia above is indeed C. japonica "Pink Empress". It's due to the location/microclimate in my garden, this one opened up prematurely. I have two other identical shrub which won't bloom until late Feb. or Early March each year. It's a bonus to have this common Camellia blooms after the sasanqua were wiped out by frost.
*jumps in room and says ...BOO* ..hehehehehe
Yeah I know took me long enough to get in here ...been busy with projects for presents for my mom, the change in my job really makes a difference for me when I get home at night since I am gone all day.
I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and even if I wasn't here saying so everyone has been in my thoughts and prayers.
my parsley is nice and green along with the dill
I know as soon as I say this it will make me lying but my pride of Barbados is still alive next to the pampas grass
BOO to you Mibus ~ glad you joined in. I wondered if you went up north for Christmas. Hope your holidays were wonderful too.
If no one minds, my possum bell dial up is slowing life down here so I'd like to continue this discussion here... http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/937014/
