NE Medina Co., TX(Zone 8a)

A pretty color of pansy, I plant them to provide both color and nectar for butterflies...like this sulfur!

This is a Yellow Bulbine...I may have put it in too much shade...might move it later.

Do any of you know if that bulbine comes in solid red or orange? All I've seen locally is the orange/yellow combo. I haven't seen the solid yellow either.

Very pretty Anna.

My small Camellia 'Kramer's Supreme' has had blooms for quite sometime. I have to grow it in a container due to the alkaline soil here.

Gorgeous Camellia Hazel, I admire them although I don't grow them.

Htop, those are beautiful. I love camellias, but if I were Native American I'd be called Linda Camellia Killer. I've given up on them. I could grow really gorgeous ones in East Texas and didn't have to do a thing to them. Here in Houston, I bet I've planted at least 20 and don't have a single one alive to show for it. I'm stubborn, but I think they've finally convinced me to give up.

Josephine, the blooms are fascinating when opening and they add outstanding color in the winter.

Linda the Camellia Killer :o), this one is the first one I am attempting to grow in a long, long time after killing a few years back. It will be in a container due to the alkaline soil around here. My friend and neighbor has one that has survived 3 years so far. These are the ones recommended for the San Antonio area which might do well in Houston.:

Kramer's Supreme
Mathotiana Supreme
Nuccio's Gem

Single Mexican Tuberose, Rajanigandha, Sedep Malam (Polianthes tuberosa) blooms are in pairs. These are the first opened blooms in the middle of February which is unusual.

I just love tuberose. A friend of mine has them naturalized at her place and they have totally covered a slope down to a drainage ditch. She dug up a bundle for me this year, while they were blooming. I said she could have waited and she said this was the only way she knew for sure what she was digging up! I've got them planted in a mixed bulb bed and hope they do as well here as her's do.

Your friend is so lucky to have lots of them. The leaves look so much like grass that I can see how it would be difficult to locate them when they are not in bloom. Mine are in containers. It is amazing how long it takes for the buds to open. Their fragrance in the evening is wonderful.
