Can anyone id these seeds?
A friend gave them to me off of a bush in the yard of her new home. They have a soft outer surface, and looks like the seed will be there when the outside dries.
No way to know what the bloom might of looked like as she just moved in. The bush is about 5 feet tall and maybe 4 feet wide. Smallish leaves.
Seed ID
Maybe Duranta?

Can you post a pic of the leaves/bush?
ummm, could be allthough these are much bigger and more "caramel" colored than the berries on my Dewdrop..but it's not that big yet.
I'll see about the pics.

looks like unpopped popcorn to me!
haha,.I need to take new pics of them. Since they have dried they look completely different. Not Goldend Dew Drop for sure. I have that and actually just pulled A seed off of it and it's completely different. Guess I'll just have to sow it and see what/if anything comes up!

I have many of these seeds taken from two different plants. One of the durantas is a very dark blue/purple and the other is a much lighter purple. I asked the owner of a nursery, and he advised me that it was very difficult to produce a plant from these seeds and to take cuttings instead, but I soaked them and just threw them in the ground so will see. Will also scarify them and see if it will help. Both plants are beautiful and are very attractive to butterflies.
flowerette, theres. Duranta erecta (sp) ? in any case maybe a variety of. I have the Golden Dew Drop and the seeds in question are bigger. Sooooo, I will sow a few and see what happens. I have a few 9 pk's that havent done well, and I need the space to do Canna's so under the bench they go. If they sprout then they do, if not, then oh well. I'll chock it up to a learning expierence and go from here.thanks and all input is appreciated..............you guys are the best.

Did anyone get some to germinate?
LOL....ya know...I still have them around here somewhere....but never did sow them.
I read there are approximately 6 to 7 different species of Duranta. Have tossed many into the ground but had no luck from seed.
