There are maggots in some of the berries. One to each berry that is turning dark (and I might have to take this question to the seed forum). I'm getting 4 seeds to one berry, I think the older the berry, the more mature the seed (?). The red berries with no bug has good looking seeds but they are lighter in color. Are they good seeds? Are the seeds in with the maggot good seeds too? Does anyone know? It's a 20' tree so these berries are from off the ground.
Burford Holly
After you clean the pulp from the fruit, the viable seeds should sink in water. I don't know about the maggots, but you could collect fruits from different parts of the tree and see which ones sink more than others. Then you'd know which ones to collect.
hey that's good, thanks
Claypa, the things you know always amaze me!
