Vossner,

It is Helichrysum http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/54990/ it might grow for you, if you can find it. It is widely grown here, in the winter, suffers in the summer humidity and it is easy to kill if it gets overwatered. It is not easy to propagate, I haven't seen it root as it grows. I just buy a plant when I need one.

first of all, RANDY, that is it! I know where you live and coming to get that banana. I can't sleep at night thinking about how I want one just like it, or it

Dale, now I remember. I have it too, but made the terrible mistake of using it as plumeria underplanting. Have just about killed it since watering plumeria trumps keeping helic. happy. Yours looks fabulous with both ipomea.

Love that variegated ground orchid!! What color are the blooms?

San Andres, Peten, Guatemala

As a Christmas present a couple of my variagated plants have decided to flower. Both were a total suprise for me.
Three Mother-in-law tongues have produced flower buds and the senior patch of wandering jew is producing flowers everyday.

aristolochia fimbriata, which I'm growing as a ground cover. It never ceases to amaze me how one day I will be looking at a huge patch of this and within 48 hrs caterpillars will leave me nothing!

croton, Andrew. Patio plant that so far has gotten no winter protection. I think this is its 3rd winter. To the left, a neoregelia.

var. monstera. I have taken a big chance and planted inground. this is the 2nd or 3rd winter. If they die, I will have a fit.

East Texas, United States(Zone 8a)

this is another var. monstera plant, which is also inground, to the left of the one pictured above. They were supposed to be the same plant, but the variegation pattern is so distinctly different, that I'm not so sure. I hope these babies become house eating monsters, I wouldn't mind that one bit.

I also have one growing as a houseplant and that one is definitely overgrown. I am thinking about transplanting outdoors. Dunno yet.

f4f, is yours protected? mine looks pretty ratty right now. it is planted inground.

Sinking spring, PA(Zone 5b)

Hello Neri! Yes, this is a new plant. Yes, I put it in the garage for our 2 cold snaps. BUT, don't make me confess that the worst we had at this property (compared to where I work and many other places/nurseries in SoFla) was 34, and I have seedlings outside that aren't variegated as well as a mature vine (also not variegated) that didn't miss a beat.

Here is a cactus. Don't have a handy ID for this one.

Thumbnail by fauna4flora

f4f, I think you got that cactus from me? I don't know what it's called either but it's growing like a weed at the moment.

I love the variegated monsteras. I have one that has been struggling for about a year, but seems finally to be getting established; I'll take a picture tomorrow.

Here is my variegated Agave attenuata.
