Snow on the deck this morning...we live to the NW of San Antonio. Only got to 31.1°during the night, but sleet had started before I went to bed. Then snow...saw the snow falling when I got up once during the night after the cat knocked something off.

Snow on a spiderwort plant. The snow was already melting by the time I took pics.
It's snowing ever so lightly right now even though the temperature, under an oak tree where the sensor is located, is 38ºF. ! It's melting as it hits the the ground.
The wind blew the bubble wrap off my large Brug. I'll have to go out and re-wrap if it's not too late. DH is out giving the "girls" (and the bull, too) some hay.
We had some snow flakes but it didn't stick to the ground, it went down to 28 but the frostweed did not do its thing.
No snow up here - just got very cold - 18 when I got up this AM... toooo cold... but at least no ice and no snow.

It snowed in Houston late this afternoon!!!!!!!! As hard as I tried, I couldn't get a picture of it.
I feel cheated! They had snow EAST of where I live. Still waiting.........

well, it is snowing here, deep in the heart of East Texas!! it is starting to stick pretty good and is coming down hard. should be pretty in the morning!! i was feeling cheated since i had heard it was snowing in Houston and Beaumont, both 2 hrs South of us.

We're moving into -20 says mitten-clad dahlianut so just wanted to offer mittens if needed. I have lots ^_^ poppin back out now.
dahlianut, you'd have to live in Texas to understand what an Event snow is. I lived in Deer Park for 20 years, and the schools would close if there was a sprinkling of it on the ground, which was every 5 years or even less often. Maybe 10.
Twenty below is incomprehensible. In 1949 it got down to 5 below, and people are still talking about it. Our usual low for the winter is about 23.

Thanks dp72, I understand, I have buddies in the deep south. Just hopin you're all ok with your weather phenomena so I sent a little humour ^_^ It is actually very unusual and exciting for TX as you say.
Plumerias, and the very most tenders were in the makeshift greenhouses, thank goodness. Hopefully the others will come back....some may not!

Ordered a greenhouse on ebay..... over a month ago. Not all the parts were in the box when it came, and we are still waiting to get the rest. Needless to say, its a little too late now :( All my plumeria, brugmansia, adenium, mandevilla, bouganvilla, coleus, citrus, etc etc are goners for sure. I was at work all day, didn't expect this to happen, so nothing got covered or brought indoors.
OH WELL. Lots of snow here in Clear Lake/Nassau Bay (Southeast side of Houston). Its been coming down since 6 pm and hasn't stopped yet (it's after 11 now). Everyone at my condo is outside still playing in it. My mom lives in Deer Park and it's still coming down there as well.

It is STILL snowing here. We went out awhile ago and knocked the snow off most of the plants. Someone had told me before that it was the weight of the snow on the plant when it froze that stressed it, in addition to the freezing temperatures.
Hopefully this will help save some of them. If I wasn't so worried about my plants I could enjoy it's beauty. It is magnificant. Beautiful......but the VERY REASON I moved SOUTH (to avoid it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) LOL! Deep sigh!

Exactly! That's what it looked like earlier! It has finally stopped. It is 34 deg. F but is supposed to be 32 by 4 am. I do not plan on staying up to find out! LOL! I imagine my little friend, Mr. Snowman, will be "history" by morning! Oh well!

Your pics of the snow are all so beautiful.I Thought the cycad one in particular was just stunning.I am sorry about the loss to your gardens though...it would be so hard to take,particularly with all well established plants.I would find it so hard to start all over..I have never seen snow only in pics like this,so.thankyou for sharing.
Don't discard plants that quickly. The snow is a great insulator and the temps have hovered between 30 and 36 so not a hard freeze. The plants might surprise you! Very likely some will come back from roots.
No snow here ~ a bit of sleet before bedtime and rain, much needed, all night long! Pretty photos everyone. That is the way I want to see snow. On the computer monitor or tv screen! 8 )
Dp72, thank you that is a neat picture of a bluebonnet in the snow.
It snowed real good here in Bryan too, everyone was out playing in it. Of course not me since I grew up in snow. But it was pretty neat to see down here. My dog had never seen snow before and he loved it!
