I think that shows the location where some type of fertilizer is to be placed.

Not sure what the orange balls signify, but Joseph is probably correct on his thinking.

A friend of mine scanned this for me, and it did come out somewhat blurry. When I get it back, I told Ron I would send it to him to scan. Maybe he can get a clearer scan of the packet to post for everyone to see.

The planting instructions on the Yamato-Noen paper packets are the same as can be seen in the scan of the backside of a packet of Aogakiyama here
