I will have to ask him, if I ever catch him on the phone. His girl friend at the time worked for a vet.

Here are a couple of things that could help.

wren,
I fed my ferrets commercial ferret food (probably marshall's brand) and I also used an edible anti-odor thing like this on and off without any real result to speak of. Mine were all descented, except one rescue. All of their poop stinks. If you were to clean the litter box twice (or more) daily, you may be able to keep up on it, but otherwise they stunk up the whole house.

I do not know what my nephew feed his but it did not smell. As I said if I can catch up with him I will ask. But is is extremely hard to get him on the phone.

Thank you for the pics!! Reminds me of my Frostie (Dolly), and Shadow (Milo), cept without the socks. I fashioned (folded) thick newspaper liners for the cage corners that they pooped in and would change when the odor hit. Ozium sprayed in the room would neutralize the odor well, plus I kept the door to the cage room closed at times. The ferrets were descent-ed as all but very few are. I don't think one could stand to have an non-descented one. There should be tiny tattooed dots in or behind an ear (I think), at least that's how Marshall ferrets are marked. Do yours like to collect crackly wrappers? I would wash out chip wrappers and small bags. Shadow loved to sleep inside of the larger bags. they are definitely interesting critters!!

I can make crinkle bags as well. They are soft on the outside with crinkle material on the inside for their enjoyment. I find all kinds of bags under the couch! They are garbage pickers! Bahhh! They are Marshal ferrets. Descented-kinda! LOL I still love them.

I have a 12 yr old min Poodle with very full long lovely ears (hair, not the actual ear) and back when I had my ferrets, he loved to play with them & they with him...well.....they, especially Shadow (who was a kit when I got her) would run up and jump on Elvis' ear ---couldn't hurt him cause of all the hair. I was a hilarious game. I had some long cardboard tubes (carpet or something (4 - 6" diam and 1 - 6' long). the ferrets would taunt Elvis and then high tail it to one of those tubes. Drove him crazy. Those tubes were great play time toys that I would only pull out for playtime. I also had some cardboard tubes, shorter, (maybe 3-4" x 1 ' or so) that I had placed in their room for daily play.
I'd post pis, but have no digital just 35mm.
he-he, these memories sure are bringing me joy. I used the Pnutbutter to belly method of nail trimming too. they don't care bout anything else with a little goodies rubbed on the tummy to wash off!
I bet there are some ferret home movies posted somewhere if I Google Ferrets. Gonna go check!!
here's Elvis and those ears that my ferrets loved to attack

I luv Elvis!!!! He is so cute!!! The ears do look tempting! hehehe! They scream "SWING FROM ME" Just kidding! They say I am cute!!!

Funny you should mention that. We bought perforated drain pipe and ran it all around this one room - so that ferrets could circle the room and still be all hidey. HA! I had forgotten about that. ;)

Sewin - I luv Elvis too! TY! He's a little wooly there but just got clipped. A bit cuter now. He's asleep and snorring now!
That drain pipe is probably great fum for them. Can you hear them scampering thru it? I havn't found a video yet of their warrior dance. ;-(

I wish a had video. I only have a still camera. They are so funny when they do it.
Mine will get up on the bed and dance at you but loose track of where they are. They usually fall off the bed dancing because they get so excited. LOL
