By the way, that is a very nice looking cowbird pelle!
Nice burn!
Daily Pics Vol. 159
Nice picutres of your beautiful birds Nanny, Burn and GP.
I went down the swamp this afternoon. There's still a fair amount of water in it, but is obviously drying out. Some parts are already bone dry and we're only six days into summer and haven't had any hot weather yet. It was a really windy day today, almost like the winds we usuually get in November, but didn't this year. Only decent shot I got was of a Pink Eared Duck.
great shot Margaret
Nice sparrow shots Adel.
Pelle, LOVE that male house finch.
Margaret, seriously cool duck that definitely does have a pink ear.
Nanny, liked all the woodpeckers and jays are fun too.
Not a great shot b/c the only time he came out of the shade, my dog started barking and scared him away. American Goldfinch, I think.
Lovely pics everyone! I have a lot of catching up to do.
Nanny, I looked through the last couple of daily pics and I have not seen if you got #100 yet... did I miss it???
Gardenpom, I am so jealous that you get all those buntings. Wonderful!
Margaret I love your pink eared duck, it's one of my favorites of your local birds. I adore his zebra stripe chest.
My first picture is the tricolored heron (the little one on the right) next to a great blue heron. The picture was heavily cropped and lightened - they were really far away and it was getting dark, sorry!!! The tricolored was a new bird for me
Heidi
Cool pics everyone. GP that first pic of the buntings is cool. It looks like that one on the top perch is giving the other one a piece of his/her mind. I haven't bee able to shoot anything because it's dark by the time I get home. Howeve, I plan to shoot tomorrow if the weather holds out.
Enjoy looking at your Painted Bunting GP,they're cute colorful little birds.
Nanny, The Blue Jays are really nice, I'm so glad I have them in my yard this year.
I first heard about the Pink Eared Duck on these threads, thanks for introducing them to us Margaret.
The Herons, and egret shots are beautiful Rntx.
I don't get the sparrows in the winter time, nice to be able to see them here.
I still have the goldfinch, but they will leave soon.
The Pine Grosbeak are back, got the female today.
Beautiful bunting burn! I've never seen one up close and personal. We have finally received our first snowfall, and the visitors I've seen recently are bluejays, juncos, and goldfinches. I did see a pair of cardinals within the last few days, too.
By the way, we are moving to thread #160: http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/930573/
See you over there.
rntx2, yes I did finally get #100...after a couple of errors in ID!! #100 was Hooded Merganser on 11-27-08. I have sworn I am never going public with something like that again...the pressure was soooo stressful! Thank the lord for ducks...lol
Reminds me I have to go update my yardbird.com list..
all my pics today were no good
ooo, Nanny, that's a nice fat cardinal there.
Well CONGRATS!! That is fantastic. What is this yardbird.com thing??

COOL I am so joining! No one in Houston yet...
There's also ebird, and if you flag a bird as rare or whatnot, someone will contact you to confirm your sighting (did for me anyway in Vermont...turned out it wasn't a rare bird, just id'd it wrong!).
You can't just add a bird to your list though, it is more of a "scientific" tool for watching (have to put in how long you watched, numbers, where, etc).

Oh yeah, on the cornell site. I send them all kinds of reports, they probably think I have no life! I haven't had any rare birds yet.... I keep hoping though!
