I have a sour cherry (Carmine Jewel) and two sweet cherries. Does anyone know of a good source of step by step instructions on pruning techniques and when to prune. I live in zone 6. Thanks

An authoritative reference source ( with illustrations) is The American Horticultural Society Pruning & Training Manual. You can also contact the Cuyahoga County Extension Office - Horticutural Division. This source is based on the research of The Ohio State University Extension. It is free. Click on "Lawn & Garden" on the right side of the page. You can reach them by phone and talk to a Master Gardener with any gardening or horticultural question. You can also search the publications of Ohioline any time you're at your computer for the latest OSU horticultural publications. Ohio residents have a wealth of free expert gardening information at their fingertips 24 hrs a day through Extension.

Thanks for the reply, I will see if the local library has a copy of the text mentioned.
Good idea. It's a terrific book. If you're a serious gardener it would make a nice addition to your Christmas "want" list.
