Red Trumpet Lily?

Melbourne, Australia

Spotted this magnificent specimen in an open garden in Warragul, Victoria, Australia. Any expert shed light on which cultivar it might be please?

It actually looks like it could be a crinum, not a lilium. Plantfiles has crinums, but I didn't see a red one. Very pretty.

Maybe even an amaryllis? I know that plant has deep red like the one you show in the picture. Maybe show this photo in the bulb forum. They'll have a better idea for certain.

Another suggestion I've had is a Hippeastrum - any thoughts?

I think an Hippeastrum is an Amaryllis - so we may be on the right track. I'll try the bulb forum as you suggest - thanks

Good luck over there. Sorry I don't know for sure what it is ;)

Unless things have changed since I went to college (circa 1980), Amaryllis and Hippeastrum are two different genera. Although very closely related, they are not the same. That's about all I know on the subject, but to me, your plants do look like one of them. Since it is not a true lily (Lilium), I think you will get better answers in the bulb forum.
