Advice on elec heater for small greenhouse

Jacksonville, FL(Zone 8b)

I do not ever remember having this many freezes or this early in a whole winter down here. I hope my brother and I get my green house finished before Saturday. I am so tired of covering and uncovering my epiphyllums.

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

We have had mild temps (for us) all season so far. It is currently a balmy 0C or 32F. Coming to an end this weekend, get this forecast: -30C or -22F BBBRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!

Jacksonville, FL(Zone 8b)

Ok I will keep my temps. Do not what to experience that cold.

Houston, TX(Zone 9a)

Bushland, TX(Zone 6a)

Jacksonville, FL(Zone 8b)

What's snow????????

Palestine, TX(Zone 8b)

We are at 32 now and never got past 37 all day. It's sleeting here north of town, but my daughter just called and said it is snowing on the west side of town. The greenhouse temp is 37. Will go light the heater here in a few. Sat. we are supposed to be mid 70's. That's a nice break after so many cold days and nights.

Jacksonville, FL(Zone 8b)

Burrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!!!!!

Palestine, TX(Zone 8b)

Wren, on Jan. 17, 1977 it snowed in Tampa Fl. I lived in Florida for 27 years. I saw snow twice. The last time was very brief in Englewood Fl. on the sw coast. It does happen , rarely, but does happen. You have a better chance of snow being so close to the Ga. border. It can get cold in Jacksonville.

Jacksonville, FL(Zone 8b)

It has snowed once. On a March 1 can not remember the year . there was over a inch on the ground, I even made a tiny snowman. My Dobermann did not like the snow. I was born here. We did have a big ice storm one December. It does not usually get cold until around January. This year has been very strange. Oh we did have a few flakes last month. I think about 5 landed on my windshield. LOL

Palestine, TX(Zone 8b)

LOL. I have to agree the weather has been weird this year. It has been colder earlier and more often for us than in the last several years. We have had snow in both 2006 an 07. One day events. Our dogs didn't like it either. One is a Florida dog transplanted to Texas and the other is homegrown. But he was only one and two years old respectively and hates cold weather.

Jacksonville, FL(Zone 8b)

The dog I have now is loving this strange cold. But he has lots more hair.

Houston, TX(Zone 9a)

I just got done playing in the snow...Since it was 77F yesterday it certainly can't stick.
Last time it snowed here was 3 years ago on Christmas eve. We actually had a couple inches that stuck. Snow on the Papaya tree 100 dollars, scraping off the car 10 dollars...seeing my cat trying to walk on it for the first time...pricelesss!

Palestine, TX(Zone 8b)

LOL rj. It's snowing here too. Has been for about half an hour. We have had snow twice this year. First last March and now. In 2006 we had snow the day before Easter in April. I prefer snow over ice storms.

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

might want to check for a portable electric heater made & sold thru a RV place...for boats & such. Usually equipped and designed to handle a splash of water.

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

oops, forgot my picture taken a couple of days ago

ok ok so that is really snow. But we are having a pretty good dusting now. I couldn't take much more than a dusting. The lights are pretty off the snow.

You guys keep dreaming of a White Xmas, you may just get your wish!!!!!

Jacksonville, FL(Zone 8b)

It is to warm here, when that storm gets over here tomorrow it will be just rain. Darn
But I am going up to Atlanta, Ga for Christmas so I may have that white Christmas.

Palestine, TX(Zone 8b)

rj, how did you know I took pics of the snow, in the dark no less? White Christmas? Hmmmmm.

Wren, looks like you will be getting a bunch of rain. But you all in the SE need it badly to relieve the drought.

Jacksonville, FL(Zone 8b)

Not here, we have been having alots of rain. The hurricane set down and drowned up for a number of days.

Palestine, TX(Zone 8b)

Ah yes, the dreaded hurricane. Four of them in 2004 blew us to Texas.

Houston, TX(Zone 9a)

Jacksonville, FL(Zone 8b)

Darn we are only going to get rain.

Houston, TX(Zone 9a)

I've seen a show about that, but they were always in Central America..They better not suck on plants or it's war!

Desoto, TX(Zone 8a)

Randy, I would say your tropical jungle has had just about every kind of test possible. Who'd a thunk a fern would look so lovely with snow?

Houston, TX(Zone 9a)

LOL..right? It can take alot, just want to ward off drought...can't take that!

Bushland, TX(Zone 6a)

Randy, the show was Monster Quest, and yes they say they might have migrated up into Mexico and over into Texas, they had shot a couple ,some say they are half dog and have Kangaroo like for there back legs where quite longer than a normal leg would be,there skin was like Elephant like and texture,oh yeah they had fangs!
But your plants will be safe, never heard anything sucking the chlorophyll out of a plant!!
Take that back aphids do!!!LOL

Desoto, TX(Zone 8a)

Is this supposed to be "for real"?

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

Different opinions on chupacabre http://skepdic.com/chupa.html

Bushland, TX(Zone 6a)

You just never know any more!
I don't rule anything out anymore!!!

Desoto, TX(Zone 8a)

Could this be the offspring of Big Foot? Certainly details are similar. hahahaha
Would make a good b-rate movie from somebodies imagination.

hahahaha

Sorry, Don. Don't intend to put anyone down. I am a natural born skeptic.

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

Neither do Tropicman I!!! I know for sure there are dryer grelims and garden fairys so I think other creatures do exist. We humans seem to base existence on our ability to catch things. How stuck up are we, hmmm??

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

Buddy Oregonigones have confirmed sitings of sasquatch in their state but I haven't seen one YET.

Desoto, TX(Zone 8a)

Our son is 42 years old and has believed in Sasquatch his entire life. We even had a dog named Sasquatch when DS was about 8 years old. He still believes.

Houston, TX(Zone 9a)

No kidding..they actually shot some? At last viewing they were in the sasquatch category as no one had killed any or photographed them with any evidence...hmm..I think monsterquest might be on tonight..I want to see the evidence..!
