Everybody getting this wonderful wet stuff?

Huntington Beach, CA(Zone 10a)

Wow, it is really raining!!
It's been coming down for several hours now and we even had a little Thunder about 9pm.
I hope our gardens know what to do with this and not just give up the ship. lol

I sure hope the burn areas can tolerate all of this rain. I'ts going to be another disaster if the intensity continues as it's been for the last hour.

It's still dry up here--it was supposed to rain starting yesterday afternoon and continue most of the day today, but it was dry yesterday and so far today it's just cloudy and I have yet to see a raindrop. When I look at the area radar there's rain east of here that looks like it had to come through here first, but if it rained here overnight it wasn't more than a drop or two since my birdbath isn't any fuller and my mulch looks dry on top.

You guys definitely need rain even more than we do though so I hope it keeps up! (but maybe slows down just a bit so you don't wind up with landslides, etc)

Liz, can't believe we got all the rain that you guys up north usually get. I haven't heard it rain this hard, for such a long duration, in 5 years. Last night it just poured continuously for 2 hours or more. As I was laying in bed, all I could think of was that we might float to the next county by morning. lol

Finally got some here last night, but it's bright and sunny now. Glad I was able to spread some weed suppressant yesterday so it got watered in. It really helps on the paths and drive. Don't think it rained that hard here, Donna, but I did hear it during the night. I like the nice soaker rains. I'll know how good it was when I try to dig a hole! LOL

Fallbrook, CA(Zone 10b)

Donna, I don't think we got as much as you did....supposed to get somemore scattered through the day and heavier again tonight. We apparently got about .86" here. It's a good day to head up to Julian and sit and have a piece of apple pie and coffee and watch it rain some more, which is exactly what I'm going to see if I can talk Jer into when he gets back fro HD.

Stinker! I'm home baking and brining and cleaning today. :-) Only the two of us, but we're celebrating tomorrow. Lots to be thankful for!

Hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving.

Dublin, CA(Zone 9a)

It's raining here now too--just a nice steady rain, perfect for the garden. Makes it a good day to stay in and do laundry and cook some things for tomorrow!

Fallbrook, CA(Zone 10b)

Well, Jer's not back yet..getting a load of lumber and wish he'd hurry. You know, I haven't got a clue as to what we're doing tomorrow. I'll do a dinner on Friday when our son's home, but tomorrow may just be a picnic to Julian if I don't get to go today. All I know is that I'm cleaning this a.m. also and really not interested in doing a turkey tomorrow.

Rancho Cucamonga, CA

I heard we got a good downpour last night but slept right through it. It sure is pretty here today. Perfect day to clean and cook.

Santa Ana, CA(Zone 10b)

Don't know what the official measure was, but I had 2 1/4' in my rain gauge in NE Santa Ana. The news said no mud problems in burn areas of OC.

Good to hear, OC

I've been cleaning too...must be the cool weather, change of seasons, etc. I don't normally do 'spring cleaning', but do straighten things up for winter. Maybe it's just due to feeling sooo much better with cooler weather. We should get more tonight....

Torrential rains here - just buckets of the stuff! I am grinning ear to ear as I overseeded my lawn on Sunday in anticipation of said rains! I kept it nice and moist for the last few days, and now I can lay off the watering for a day or two!

Having grown up in Seattle, I am used to a constant drizzle, but we almost never got such strong coastal rains. Most of the heavy stuff fell on the Olympic Rain Forest, while we got the residual drip, drip, drip . . . 30 years of it was enough for a lifetime! I've been here in S. Calif. for the last dozen years and have never looked back - I love to visit family in the summer, but they can have the "Slit Yer Wrists" Gray skies!

It's raining off and on here. Our neighbor was out in the horse corral with his little daughter on her ATV - in the mud - while mommy was cleaning up and feeding the horses. Hysterical way to start the day - until mommy looked down and said, "You've got your best boots on!" Dad was barefoot. So, while we're all enjoying the morning, this horrific noise comes out of everywhere - inside, outside, overhead. Horses scatter like mad, parrots fly all over the house, humans duck - then again, wham!! We looked up and saw a transformer on fire at the bottom of the road - sparks, flames, then poof! smoke. We still had power and neighbor was on her cell PDQ. Within a half hour the power co. arrived and reset something, power went off, then on again.

Whew!! So glad it has been raining. There is brush under the pole and it could have started a fire almost in our front yard. DH said, quick, get the turkey in the oven! One year at my brother's in Mariposa, the power went out and we had to put the turkey in the fireplace - it didn't get done until midnight. Problem is, we don't have a fireplace!

Oh, and first off, we had a heron flying to and from the pond, each flight sending the parrots into panic.

Have a great Thanksgiving everyone! It's a riot around here. :-)
