Well, so far this week I've lost a glass cutter; found it on the dryer; then lost a gold chain necklace; found it on the shower floor; now For The Big One.
I got up this morning, had my coffee; unplugged the pot, washed it and left it to dry. Lunch time comes around, I fill the pot, add the coffee reach to plug it in but there's no cord. First of course I looked around the kitchen; then decided that maybe I thew it out!!(accidently) so literally remove stuff from the trash bag..nope. So here it is almost bed time, I haven't had my afternoon coffee and now facing the morning ahead. I've looked in everything. Why would It be Anywhere else other than on the kitchen counter? Again the black hole of my house has scored. Big Time.
Where did your lost item turn up, and how long did the house keep it before putting it back into plain sight?
Items lost once again
Last week I woke up and looked outside and saw my purse on the front porch. The afternoon before I had unlocked the front door, went inside, then out to the garage, brought lumber in through the garage, and came back in the house. Thank God it was still there, credit cards and all.
Later that day, I lost my cheeseball. Took me 10 minutes to realize it was on the table.
Don't tell anyone. :)
The house finally sent back the cord. I'd put it away w/the electric frying pan.
Hoping for an unevenful day, finding everything in it's place.
L/f/J: those cheeseballs are tricky little things! Glad the purse stayed put.
I lost a brown belt when we 1st moved in our house 5 years ago. I had it one day and the next...Poof! I haven't found it yet.
I lose my phone regularly. DH has to call it. One day, it was in the backyard. Huh? I don't remember using it out there!
I lose thoughts on a regular basis, as well. I think of something, walk into a separate room and the thought is gone by the time I get there. ☺
L.O.L.! You lost your cheese ball! That's a good one. Well, I wasn't at home but I lost my car at the grocery the other day. A friend was walking out with me, as I intended to put my groceries in the car and then join her for coffee. I couldn't remember where i had parked but then recalled that I had Walked to the store in the first place! The car was at the house; so maybe the house just kept it, like they do.
lost cheeseball...!
I often lose my glass of iced tea. Can be almost anywhere as ya'll know. Coffee sometimes, although it tends be more firmly attached to me, beng more critical in the AM.
My teenage son lost glasses off of his face couple of weeks ago. He swears they were on his face when he went to sleep in our basement on the sofa. Still haven't turned up! Really don't think he would go this far to avoid telling us that he really lost them before getting home. Hubby has lost some glasses too, so he can't be too critical.
I lose pens. I buy them constantly and never, ever, have one when I need one. I have no idea where they go. And scissors. I must buy 10 pair a year.
I too lose scissors. Tape seems to disappear as well, at home and work.
I lost my train of thought last week while telling a story. I lost the whole point of why I was telling the story in the first place. No amount of going over what we had just been talking about was I able to remember. LOL My coworkers are still asking me if I have remembered. I haven't. LOL
Amber, I do that all the time. I get side-tracked so...what was I saying?

Scissors too, tape also. I had three pair of kitchen (cheap) scissors, all gone! well, one may be in the garden...I'm always going for the kitchen scissirs to deal with bags.
Kwanjin I'm glad someone else does that too, I was beginning to think I needed an MRI. LOL
Sallyg did your son ever find his glasses?
I read an article the other day on sleep and napping. If you wake up all the time when you are supposed to be sleeping it interrupts your memory making process and makes it hard to stay focused. I have been having some problems staying asleep lately, so maybe thats it. That is my story and I might stick with it. LOLOL On a bright note several articles lately have said napping is good for your health. YEA
Amber_lee--No, they haven't turned up. Its the funniest thing. Just can't imagine where they got to. My younger son once found a pair of hubby's long lost glasses out in the yard once, that was a stitch. C'mon, I may lose clippers in the yard but glasses?!?
BTW, try a magnesium supplement to help sleep. Or to help restless legs. I can say it works. Losing sleep is not really so funny!
I think I can beat everyone.
DH lost his bridge. He thought he threw it away with lunch at work, as he took it out to eat something.
Fast forward a year or so. We bought the property next door. I was digging a rosebed out by the sidewalk. I was stripping sod to transplant elsewhere. I turned a chunk over and saw teeth. DH wasn't home, so I washed it off and set it on my table. It was the strangest thing I ever found. But, I find ''treasures'' all the time when I dig new beds. He came out and said, ''where did you find my bridge?'' I had no idea it was his teeth when I found it. Plus, they were in the neighbor's yard, 10' from the sidewalk.
Now tell me how that happened!
My keys keep running away.
billyporter--that's so funny!
But maybe he had put the bridge in a shirt pocket, and it fell out in the yard? At least my husbands glasses were probably lost out of his pocket.
I lost a set of car keys in the yard two years ago. I think they fell in a recycle bin and got mulched. Never heard from them although you'd think that would stop the shredder and then they could send it to one of the stores on the little tags and get them to me. But no, I had to spend a hundred bucks to get a new key with microchip. I now religiously clip my keys to my body when not in use--wel to my clothing.
I was going to say, Sally, you must have a cool body piercing to hold keys! LOL
My dog groomer, who comes to my house, took off the dogs collars to groom, put one back on but not the other - left it lying on kitchen table. That evening getting ready to go for agility trial put on the collar lying on the table on one of the dogs and looking all over for the other dogs collar - cant find, getting very frustrated and late, finally put a show leash on her and off we went. Got to trial, groomer is there, ask her about collar, she says no it was lying on kitchen table. At agility trials dogs run 'naked' i.e. no collars. When I put my dogs in their crates I take off their collars and leashs so I dont forget to remove them. I reach to take Baileys collar off and what is in my hand? Fancy's collar. And Bailey's collar is still on him! No wonder I couldn't find it!
ooch, eech, ouch...yeah my ears hang low!
fancyvan- funny--the mind can be a terrible thing
These stories are so funny; and I'm sooo thankful to know that this happens to all of us.
... and i thought it was genetics.
My mother always lost her coffee cup ... but then that is an easy one to lose.
I can not think of anything off hand that i have lost lately... but i usually find whatever has been lost in very odd places.
I spent several minutes looking for my cell phone the other day....I finally realized i was talking on it while I was running around the kitchen looking for it. ugh.
LOL!! that is funny. but i can see it happening to me too.
ROTFLOL And I thought I was the only one!!!
That's a good one!
I loaned my box knife to a coworker and she promply lost it. I don't know what I was thinking as she has lost several in just the two months she has worked with us. I have had that box knife for 4 years, I can't even get blades for it at work. It didn't cut well as the blade is very old and it was bent up and beat up but I liked it. I know it is stupid to feel this way but it is a tool I use everyday. LOL I had to get a new one from personell and it is a different style and it is annoying. LOL Oh well, I need to get over it, on the bright side the blade is so much sharper than I am used to I can cut anything.
ROTFL!!!
I'm enjoying this thread!!
I started this same type a thread a couple years back when I was out digging and transplanting; and my puppy was just being way too helpful so I simply walked up to the house, opened the door, let the puppy in, and went back to garden...and my shovel was missing. I went back and forth to the house, went to every spot that I'd dug and couldn't find the darn thing. Came in and cried my heart out to the DG group that I was indeed going insane. A couple hours later, I went to the tool shed and there hung my shovel. I assume that ET put it away while I went to the house. They do live among us....they must.
These stories are really funny; except for poor Amber...sorry; hope there's a "group" you can join. Lost tool therapy..a clinical study of the effects of the loss of a tool.
Good news. My knife reappeared. Actually it came flying out as some of my coworkers were pulling up books and papers from behind the register, it nearly hit a customer in the head. LOL And my friend Sharon who also still has this type of box knife found some blades to fit it when she was going thru a drawer at her house. Woo Hoo, see I whined to ya'll in lieu of a "group" which would have probably cost me an arm and leg and presto my knife's back. LOLOL Thank you. Still think I probably need therapy. LOL
OMG, this thread is so funny! We always blame the "poltergeist" that apparently has followed us from previous home to this one.. reading glasses are it's most common plaything! That, and DH's tools, or nuts and bolts, for me it was recently the bookmark so gently placed in my book... that was the dogs or cats, though, found it stuck to a pillow, LOL!
Brenda
>>We always blame the "poltergeist"
When we were kids, my mom would always say, "The gremlins did it."
And the Christmas gift wrap that I bought on sale after Xmas last year, and can never find in time for this year's gifts, causing me to buy more at full price.
billyporter -
That is straight out of Poe. I would have run screaming into the house if I found teeth in the garden.
-A
I have been reading this thread and giggled my way through it. I've lost so much stuff then found some of it in the freezer (cell phone, tv remote, etc..). I blame it on DH LOL!
But I gotta say Sally - I would have died if I'd found teeth in my lawn! It reminded me of this story when I worked in vacation rentals. A lady came into our office and said that she lost her partial while jogging on one of the trails. Apparently she didn't realize it until she was finished. She asked we would call her if anyone brought it in for "lost and found"!

I heard this one from a male friend. He and his wife had their house broken in to and laptop stolen. When they replaced it, the wife said, "Let's put the lap top in the oven when we go out. No one will look there. " No one did. The lap top was "cooked" twice! And it was the husband who did it. He said it was just pre-heated and the computer still works!
LOL!
OMG -- that is the funniest thing i've ever heard of.
since, when i was a kid, my mom used to store the cast iron fry pans in the oven ... it;s always been a habit of mine to check the over before turning it on.
what kind of nut can lose something out of her mouth and not notice at the time??
I have to admit when she left we all looked at each other like "is she serious?"! I know partials are expensive, but dang....!
I have to throw this one in. Every morning before work my DH goes up to Tim Hortins for coffee and meets about 10 guys. They solve the worlds problems and have been doing this for years. Yesterday morning as usual he made his stop and the guys were all talking away and then started to laugh...... one of them asked my DH if he forgot something and he started thinking but told the guy, "I don't think so." The guy said, "Where are your Teeth?" Needless to say he came flying home and retrieved them out of the cup he had been soaking them in. I couldn't stop laughing all morning! Meem
ROFLOL!
