Okay, I'm not so lonely anymore, I just got a new puppy!

Dolores, CO(Zone 5b)

OMG, I made the mistake of giving all of our dogs Thanksgiving leftovers last year, and I was cleaning up diarrhea for 3 days!!!! I've since learned a.) don't give the dogs Thanksgiving leftovers, and b.) pepto bismol pulverized and put in some peanut butter and given to the dogs is a miracle cure, LOL! That was on this carpet (the carpet I mentioned earlier), and it cleaned up beautifully. IC, those are sweet doggies!

Okay-this thread is starting to become foul with all the turkey talk . . .

Dolores, CO(Zone 5b)

LOL!

Iowa City, IA(Zone 5a)

MM, you can learn from our mistakes! : )

Our dogs are not getting ANY leftovers next year.

Does your new pooch have a name yet???

Deer Park, IL(Zone 5b)

Ahh, embarrassingly, no. Pup-Pup and Pupito seems to be it without any decision formally being made.

springfield area, MO(Zone 5b)

How about Zorro?
He looks like he has on a little mask and a black cape.

Deer Park, IL(Zone 5b)

My 9 year old son announced that the dog's name is Pup-Pup so Pup-Pup it is but he already knows my nicknames as well . . . Pup-pete-toe and Pup-alishish also work for him . . .

(Tammie) Odessa, TX(Zone 7b)

Whatever his name.. he is adorable and the havanese in him will make him a true lap dog!

Deer Park, IL(Zone 5b)

I take that little dog everywhere with me, grocery store, Macy's, Carsons, my son's elementary school and NO ONE has stopped me yet and denied me access (I'm waiting to to who and when they will do that). Everyone thinks he is so cute that they don't even think to stop me. I even took him into a natatorium (pool indoor building) and had him there I KNOW that is not allowed by law . . .

Bad Mole

Dolores, CO(Zone 5b)

Oh, naughty, naughty, Mothermole! You keep going, though! I'm a bit of a rebel myself, and who could say no to that doggie????

Holland, OH(Zone 5b)

Tell them Pup-Pup is a "therapy companion" dog. They'll might look at you a little funny after that, but hey, you've got your pooch for company.

Deer Park, IL(Zone 5b)

Therapy companion dog as in retail therapy or chocolate therapy? This morning, I had him in Target in the back end of the cart and he decided he didn't want to be there but next to me and started barking for the first time in a demanding way. I guess the "Bad (rebel) Mole" has a "Cute (rebel) Pup". . . I knew I should have gotten a girl dog. Men just don't understand the whole thing about shopping . . . LOL

BTW: I just got this email from Bonnies Plants (the one I told some of you about with the remote underwater video camera to watch the koi in the winter). I will post her email below-she added a wish list to her site. . . (probably so Snapple can add that camera onto it . . .).

BELOW IS THE EMAIL:

Clarification on winter feeding

Because of many emails I have received regarding feeding pond fish in the winter, I would like to clarify some information.

For those in colder climates that are asking what to do when there is a warm spell that often happens in the colder months. Once the water reaches 50 - 55 degrees, you must stop feeding. Should a warm spell occur, check your local weather forecast for the next several days. If the weather is going to be warm for the next several days, you can feed later in the afternoon. Be sure to feed lightly. No way should you feed the same amount that you are feeding in the peak season. It REALLY is best to NOT feed once you stop feeding. The begging you see, is a learned behavior and does not mean the fish are hungry. It is important that you feed by water temperature and NOT by the calendar.

Remote Pond Thermometer

Speaking about water temperature, I recently added a remote pond thermometer to my list of supplies. I have been using one for years as it allows me to see the pond water temperature from my office rather than going out side to look at a floating thermometer. The sensor stays outside, is waterproof, the probe goes in the water and the main remote sits on my computer desk.
Now through the December 29th you can receive 10% off the thermometer by adding the word thermo to your order. Uses 4 double AA batteries (2 for the remote and 2 for the sensor) - not included.

Underwater Koi Camera

This is the biggest time of the year for the koi cams to sell. I will sell out and my supplier will sell out. So, please if you are interested, please do not delay in placing your order. The underwater koi camera is the perfect gift for those "who have everything"!

Shopping Cart

After months of working on a shopping cart, it is finally up and running. From my home page, simply click on the link that says Bonnie’s On Line Shop. There are some really cool features for you like a gift registry. You can go in and make a wish list and then have friends and relatives look at your wish list. They can then place an order from your list.

Under supplies, there are gift certificates in different denominations that can be purchased for the ponder in your life. They are good for one year from date of purchase and can be used on any item I offer for sale

We have worked to get all the "bugs" out the shopping cart and hopefully they are all gone. The biggest hurdle was setting up shipping. It will probably need more work and as I see problems I will fix them. While I am all for saving you shipping dollar by combining shipping, the problem arises in combined shipping. Not all plants can ship in the same box. I can add some smaller pond supplies to the same box of plants. Generally speaking though, supplies ship in the separate box from live plants. Read more on the home page of the shopping cart.

With Google Checkout, your credit card is never charged until the order actually ships. I can actually charge your credit card less if shipping was overcharged. I cannot charge more than what you initially agreed to pay.
If the shipping charges were less than anticipated, the excess will be deducted from your credit card when your order ships. I will let you know the difference when I email that your order has shipped.
As always you can email me with your order and ask for a total shipping charge if this is an issue with you. Please be sure to include your zip code because I can not quote shipping without a zip code. I cannot take orders over the phone as all credit cards are processed on line for your protection. I never see your credit card information and I do not want to see it. This is to protect your privacy.

There is also an option to send a check or money order instead of using your credit card for those who prefer that method of payment. I will hold the order for 10 days until payment arrives. After 10 days the inventory will be taken off of my hold list.

Fish are not included in the cart as shipping fish is much more complicated. Please continue to use the on line inquiry form on the Fish for Sale pages.

Shipping Charges

Both USPS and Fed Ex have announced a raise in shipping charges to take place in January. If you are thinking of placing an order, you can take advantage of the current shipping prices by placing your order before
December 31st. I do not control the shipping price so once they both raise their rates, my hands are tied.

About Fish Food

The question of food for pond fish has come up many times in emails to me. If you believe "your are what you eat" this applies to all animals and not just humans. I feed only Sho Koi and it is the only food I sell.
Why? Because I love the fact that it has an immune stimulator in the food. This is especially important in the spring and fall when fish are under the most stress. Is it the best food you can feed your fish? For the price, yes. There are more expensive foods (around $15.00 a pound) on the market but most can not afford to feed expensive food, myself included. Look at the label on the food you are feeding and see if corn is in the first 5 ingredients.

Corn is cheap filler that causes body fat. It gives the feeling of being full. Body fat is never good in pond fish (nor is it good for us for that matter) as it causes fatty liver and that is not healthy for our beloved finny friends.

I have remote pond thermometers on both ponds. I consider them essential. Takes all the guess work out of "How cold is it?" in the water. The receivers are located on the wall in the kitchen by the phone. No trudging out to the pond or trying to keep the algae off a floating thermomter so you can read it. I feed solely based on pond water temp. I dont feed during warm spells in the winter. If you miss the forecast and the temperature drops before you stop feeding or before the koi have digested their last feed the food goes septic in their gut and they die. It takes a while for both the immune system and the digestive system to fully ramp up from a cold water environment. If the digestive system slows or stops with food in the belly you'll have a dead fish.

I have the underwater camera on the top of Christmas list. I'm also trying to be extra extra good.

Bonnie's Plants has a link to their underwater koi camera in their pond! That is way cool.

Sweet! I hope you get one snapple, then we can see your fish, too!

Deer Park, IL(Zone 5b)

Yeah Snapple-we're counting on you to be a very, very good Snapple-fish girl so Santa delivers!
I'm going to have to try that link again and see if my system supports it yet. I have a a Mac and somethings don't cross over well.
