These are my early Christmas presents and I'm sooo thrilled with them...DH has spent the last month making them. They're about 8' tall, steel.
Number 1:
My early Christmas presents/ weathervane towers
I want one!!! That man's been hiding his light under a bushel! The figures are beautiful. Wow, Sherry, Merry Christmas to you! Please pass on compliments.
Very nice! You've got a talented hubby!
Well, he has a few faults, but I tend to overlook them when he makes me something good...lol....I do like these, he gets rib-eyes for dinner tonight! I'll pass on your compliments to him, somehow he never gets tired of hearing it.
OOOOhhhh----love them all, but especially the little girl!!!
She's my fave too....Kathleen, 2 little words to whisper in John's ear....plasma cutter. I'm sure you wouldn't have to encourage him...lol...
Uh-oh. Not a new tool! He was wondering how he cut them. He sends his compliments, too.
Do tell me your husband is in business making and selling those weather vanes and towers!!!! I have been trying to get one from my DDH forever it seems. He isn't handy at all but he has enough other good traits that I think I'll hold on to him. Don't want your DH but I surely would buy one of his weather vanes. They are fabulous!!
Ann
oooh really gorgeous - I hope he enjoyed his dinner : )
Wow Sherry, thems are good presents for sure. I especially like the first one, was it patterned after you??? lolololol Happy early Christmas to you.
I would think this is a great project for Jer to do over the winter months and sell them come spring time. I bet you could sell one to Don and Pam if he mounted a horse on one.
I think it would be a hoot to get John and Jer together to make lots of new garden ornaments for all us SoCal RU people. They could have a little stand set up at Don's next year. lol
Beautiful work for sure,
Donna
Can you also whisper in his ear "DG Marketplace"??
He may end up making some to sell with my plants at the farmers' market, but too heavy to ship and lots of time and materials in them, so it's quite possible they'd be too costly to sell.
Donna.....I'm pretty sure Don could make one of his own..lol....
Yes, Donna, the witch is me...why didn't you think that sweet little girl was?...lol....
Sherry, she was you in your 'younger' days. lol
Sorry, hope I didn't offend you, I was just trying to be cute. :-)))
D.
Donna, you know it's pretty hard to offend me...I laugh at myself all day long...
I think I'd rather be the inspiration for the witch than the old crow, anyway.....LOL!
lol
How about if I drive down and pick one up from you!!!?!? No shipping that way. I have been wanting one of those in my garden. Very, very nice Sherry.
Weege, did you get the Orchid Tree you wanted? Should I get one and then you can take it home in March?
BTW, Jer is very pleased with the compliments....
Yes Sherry, I found one in a local nursery, thank you so much.
Lovely weathervanes! Do tell your husband what a great job he did!
WIB!
SW
I don't know Sherry, you might have to hold some of these compliments back for a bit. He won't be able to get through the door soon! lol
BTW, I'll bet those figures would be good sellers by themselves, and shippable. Just a thought. Lots of people like metal art in the garden.
Yeah, like if they were cut a size that fits in a flat-rate USPS box......and the buyer would be responsible for the tower....
Aluminum would be nice to hang from trees. :-)
I need to spend some time coming up with other ideas for designs before I can get him back to doing more of these. Small addition in the works for the shop right now, then a gate for the front drive and I have a thing for lightning rods, so we're thinking maybe lightning rods also.
One of the hottest sellers at the Garlic Festival a few years ago was weathervanes (and not so nice as your DH's, IMHO). People were buying and schlepping them all over the place.
I love the "negative" of the little girl, too!!! Is that left from cutting the one for your weathervane, or does it have to be done separately?
No, she was done separately. I think I need to get out more and see what other people are doing...lol...festivals are good spots to see who's doing what, if I could only get away from digging in the dirt! There just isn't time to do everything you want to do...you know how that goes.
Oh, definitely, Sherry - those are very cool. I'll be a customer, too! How about a hummingbird, a roadrunner, a quail...
If you have a hummingbird weathervane, it's mine!
Haven't done any hummers......lol
