daltongirls, what zone are you in?
I would grow them in containers. You can grow them in the ground, but right before winter frost, take a cutting and root them in water over the winter and you'll have another plant in the spring. Here in Georgia, I cut my stems all the way down close to the ground and give my cuttings away or keep a few to roots, just in case it's too cold and they don't come back.
gaseedsgrower, nice brug, you are not too far from me. I'm on the fringe of Gwinnett, Fulton and DeKalb. Do you ever go to N. Point Mall through Old Alabama? There is a small church on the way over there with a huge white brug plant. Very pretty when it's blooming in the summer. I have a pink one (I believe it's Pink Favorite) and my neighbor has a pretty noid yellow one. His gets really tall in the summer.
Sorry posted but did not go thru .
I use a string of Xmas lights , a plastic 35 gallon drum filled with water and 4 - 5 gallon metal cans filled with water .
I set on cement floor of my cold frame [ green house has heat ]
The cans radiate heat and help keep things from freezing - the Xmas lights just keep air moving
