looking for movie title

Wilton, CA(Zone 9b)

Years and years ago I saw a movie much like Jeremiah Johnson; it had the same type of setting..man in the wild, in the snow, but this one was about captain and his crew trying to get a ship over the mountains and can't do it. then there's a muntiny and one guy set off in the wilderness.
Any Help!!?
Thanks

Is it "Fitzcarraldo"?

Wilton, CA(Zone 9b)

Nope! but thanks. that one is set in the Amazon; but is actually in my Netflix queue.

Duhh...snow...

I've sent a couple of requests to family members to help remember this one. I seem to recall it but I can't seem to get the title into my head. Do you remember which year/decade it was? Or who was in it?

(Zone 7a)

Klaus Kinski was in Fitzcarraldo. They did drag a boat over the mountain.

Good morning, and thank you for thinking w/me. This movie was pretty much the same time as J Johnson. I don't really remember much of anything; just snipits; and that's been driving my mind crazy for wks now. Why in the world does my brain need to figure this out!?
There's a scene where "the man" watches an Indian having a baby...but was that in J Johnson? The closing is of the Indians and "the man" attacking the ship.

(Zone 7a)

Oh boy, I don't remember. I'm going to call my brother and ask if he knows these scenes. he said it was FC but I'll ask him again.

(Zone 7a)

Me again. I talked to my DB and he said there was a scene in Little Big Man where he watched an indian woman giving birth. I remember that one. He hasn't seen FC and is unsure if that's what you're looking for.

Guess my mind is playing mind tricks on me and combining movies together into one script. ...maybe I'm destine to write a movie; maybe I'm going nuts; ...so many possibilties.
Big Black Hunkin' ship sitting in a small valley with snowy mountains around. (like tahoe) also snipets of the men pulling the ship though the snow.
glad to clearify the birth scene..thank you!
Back now to look for a new glass cutter blade I bought two days ago that seems to have been eaten up by the house. No where to be found..fallen into the black hole of a home.

(Zone 7a)

Maybe it's in the same black hole that's got some of my things, too! LOL

If you find a black pair of sissors, a light blue pair of sissors, an orange pair of sissors, and a green pair of sissors let me know, I'm missing all of my sissors!

Do you have any idea who stars in the movie, my husbands a movie buff and might know, but he's going to ask who starred in it (I've been there and done that with him)

i thought sure that John Huston was in that movie. i can see it in my mind, but when i googled him, i can't come up with the name of the movie. i thought i would know it as soon as i saw it.

SV, is that it? I saw it YEARS ago and do not remember any of it except the beginning with the bear.

Sounds like an interesting movie. I'd like to see it.

Great beginning to my day! Thank you crissy; I'm going w/ Man in the W. Read the synopsis and it must be the movie. still lacking a ship being dragged across the snow, but J Houston was "the captain"..so I'm calling this one Found.
didn't find your scissors,,but did find my cutter on the dryer, so you may want to look there. I think these things band together to drive us to the edge of insanity and then Show Up when they know we've had enough.
Kwanjin; Know of any other movies with stranded ships?..
**jo

(Zone 7a)

Hmm...I know lots of stranded SPACE ships. LOL I can't think of any others right now.

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Anybody find my pearl earrings?

Ship on wheels was in Man in the Wilderness and a baby birth too....but I am wondering ...is this the one where he was hoisted in the air with the hooks attached to his skin --as a sort of initiation to the tribe?

(Zone 7a)

No, that one was A Man Called Horse.

Wilton, CA(Zone 9b)

I've put Man/Wilderness to the top of my Netfx list..so will be watching it this week...I'll find out which parts are in This movie! And post the results.
Thank you Missingrosie for given me hope that my memory isn't gone.
I did have a Great Find this morning. I woke to find that my necklace was no longer around my neck; OMG..where did it fall off; and when. Looked around and found it on the shower floor!!!Yeah..not down the drain.

Hillsborough, NC(Zone 7b)

Yes, it was his late wife that he saw give birth in flashbacks. That ship was on wheels.
Big Fan of Richard Harris -- maybe that is why I remembered. His album "MY BOY" was a flop but I loved (and still do) it.

the link i provided earlier gives a description of the movie, including the ship.

Hillsborough, NC(Zone 7b)

Track's link tells all. Didn't realize the movie was shot in Spain.

Wilton, CA(Zone 9b)

Trackinsand; Great link! first time I tried it got one of those error messages, this time it was fine.
Going to go ahead a watch it since it has been rolling around in my mind for weeks. I'll pacify the brain.

mid central, FL(Zone 9a)

that's what i need, something for my brain! lol

Wilton, CA(Zone 9b)

last night i watched m/wilderness and was pleased that many of the things that rolled through my mind about were really in it! Captain Henry's ship was being pulled by 22 mules (not by men) so that was a good thing. Our hero guy (Bass) did watch a Indian have a baby; he was watching from behind a ditch and bush. Also the ship ended up is a valley...because the river bed was dried. So glad that that is done with..now I'll probably start remembering so other B movie of the 70's! or a song that I can't place w/a singer.
A few days ago I tried to remember CW McCall's name...finally called one of the boys; he knew who I was talking about and then started singing Wolf Creek Pass. Which was the song that got me thinking of him in the first place.

Hillsborough, NC(Zone 7b)

It's crazy how the mind works.. I thought he was watching his wife give birth (a flashback)

Of course, I mixed it up with a Man Called Horse too!

(Zone 7a)

Glad you finally got that cleared up, SV! LOL I hate it when I can't figure stuff out. (which is most times) ;-)
