My callas always bloom nicely this time of year too--it's the hot summer that they don't like so they always stop blooming then, but pick back up in the fall when the weather cools off. I was surprised by the hydrangeas though, mine still have blooms on them but their all dried now so I'm impressed to see fresh looking flowers this time of year.

I bet MY hot summers can beat up YOUR hot summers.....LOL!!!

imapigeon--you'll be disappointed to learn that my avg summer highs are actually a degree higher than yours! Dublin's far enough inland that we don't have nice summers like Oakland and San Francisco do, we're just as miserably hot as you are! LOL
