That's the last shot cropped. That's all. Grateful for any assistance.

Darter it is, that white chin stripe is diagnostic, and a cormorant would have a visibly hook-tipped bill. "It looked to have about the same wingspan as an Ibis" – Darter 116-128cm; Australian White Ibis 110-125cm, so spot on there!

What an incredible bird Margaret! It does look prehistoric! Gorgeous photo.
Great bird, Margaret...reminds me of the day I caught a glimpse of a very different bird while driving...turned out to be a Magnificent Frigatebird. That was truly prehistoric looking.
Gorgeous shot Margaret!
Thanks Knip, GP and Rose. GP, I just Googled Magnificent Frigatebird as I am familiar with what Frigatebirds look like but didn't know if I'd ever seen a picture of a MFB. Fantastic bird. You're a more disciplined driver than I am. I would have run off the road.
Here's another shot of a Darter. With a neck like that it could get a job as a plumbers assistant.
Margaret, thanks for the suspense. Are the darters closesly related to the cormorants? They certainly appear to be. Lee
Great pics Margaret! The Darters are a very handsome bird.
When you have time later can you start a new thread? Thank you!
We enjoy your post's so much.
The Darter is a magnificent bird! Looking back over this thread, what an amazing array of birds! Thanks Margaret for taking the time to post them.
Are the darters closesly related to the cormorants?
Yep. And frigatebirds, too. Also the same order as pelicans and gannets.

We call them Anhinga, here. Looks just like the Comerant except the bill is pointy, they go right for the eye if captured. Up north we called them Hell Divers 'cause when they dive for food, you'd think they went to hell and back before you saw them up again.
What a beauty!!
Your Darter is a really magnificent bird, love his feathers arrangement in the first pic. You have a great assortment of colorful birds, so different from what we see here. Always a joy to look at your pictures.
Thanks to everyone for letting me share some of our local birds. The thread has exceeded tolerance levels, so I'd better start a new one. Please join me here: http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/938486/
