I found it inside my hut one late evening in a mountainous area , Itamonte Brazil in January 2004.
The quality of my picture is not so good but perhaps good enough for an ID?
I guess it must belong to the family of Tettigoniidae as it looks similar to some European members of that family.
It's difficult to remember its exact size as it's so long ago, but it was quite large, I think around 5cm.

it looks like our katydid here in the states. i don't the correct name though.
I think you will find it very difficult if not impossible to get an ID for this. The Family is correct I think, this pic looks very close to yours but no name is given.
