Great idea : using ip. Nil as ground cover , have you an larger pic of that?

I make the same thing with heavently blue and it work very well , the plants have full light and they can express all their potential .
ip. tricilor is also good because they don't produce volunteers.

Kylie - That is really kind of you to offer me some seeds for Heavenly Blue. I have seeds that I got in a trade last year. I just haven't grown them yet.

I have a decent assortment of seeds, but can only grow so many cultivars at a time. So I pick and chose what I grow each time. I only do two groups of MG grow-outs a year. One in the Spring and one at the end of summer. I grow about 25 different MGs each time. Though not all make it to bloom due to pests or disease. And each grow-out is just one single seed of a cultivar. I'm very frugal with seeds that are shared with me! LOL! But I love to share with others any seeds I collect from my vines. :-) I just like trying them ALL to see which ones I like best. Eventually, I will narrow down my favorites ... the ones with blooms I like, colors and patterns I really love, and hardiness against pests and diseases. I guess I am in the trial and error stage currently. Seeing which ones do well and which ones don't. Which ones I really like and which ones don't really rock my world ... lol

BTW - BEAUTIFUL bloom. Is that Heavenly Blue?

Yep.. It is some that self seeded in a Brug bed I left but kept it cut back and Def harvested seed as soon as I could..LOL...

Hi Kylie,

Heavenly Blue is an Ipomoea tricolor cultivar...the one you show seems to be something else; the tube on a tricolor flower has yellow in it, which I don't see in the flower of your photo. Also, the leaves on your vine don't match up with the heart shaped tricolor leaves...Check out this array of HB images:

Your MG is very pretty, nice vivid blue with really bright white throat and tube!

I was wondering about that, too. It didn't look like the Heavenly Blue vines/blooms that I have seen photos of. It looks like it most likely is lovely Ipomoea nil. Nice deep blue! :-)

Perhaps Hatsu Arashi ! but this cultivar has different hue or it depend of the camera
the leaf how does look like ?

first lesson abbreviation language

" lol " what does it mean ?

Kylie2x - The photo that you posted here
http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/fp.php?pid=5795147
is almost certainly an Ipomoea nil and it is most definitely NOT Ipomoea tricolor...

So,if you thought that your Ipomoea tricolor(?) self re-sowed...think again...(!)

Nice rich blue on the Ipomoea nil....looks one of the unnamed types that comes out of the "Early Call" mix...

Dany - LOL = "Lot's of Laughter" or "Lord oh Lord"...

The leaves are not those of "Hatsu Arashi"...

TTY,...

Ron

Another useful acronym is ROFL is short for Rolling on the Floor, Laughing!

and the much used acronym LMBO: Laugh my butt off.

Dany - Nice compact bloom. :-) Is it purple or blue? Definitely an I. nil.

LOL - always means "Laughing Out Loud" to me.
ROTFLMBO - Means "Rolling On The Floor Laughing My Butt Off".

That photo needs to go somewhere in DG besides here.
