Order: Trichoptera Family: LIMNEPHILIDAE

Lincoln, United Kingdom(Zone 8a)

Hi Ken,

I have two species in the Family: Limnephilidae Order: Trichoptera.

If you could start me off with Limnephilus lunatus I can do the other.

Thanks!

Thanks Janet,
I have added Limnephilus lunatus here: http://davesgarden.com/guides/bf/go/5421/

Good to get some caddisflies, they are rather poorly represented in BugFiles so far,

Thanks Ken,

I have made two entries for that Family, as well a Hydropsyche sp in Hydropsychidae.

Ken, I have another in the Family LEPTOCERIDAE, Mystacides longicornis. Could you please add that too? :)

One more to go which I think I have correct but pics are scarce!

Thanks Janet, I have used one of your images to illustrate the Limnephilidae, and I have created an entry for Mystacides longicornis here: http://davesgarden.com/guides/bf/go/5424/

Thanks Ken, my pics are uploaded for Mystacides longicornis.

I have one more Caddisfly belonging to another Family, I feel confidant enough about it's ID if you do, lol. Some tend to have very distinctive features and I don't think this one could be any other.

Thanks Janet, I have selected one of your images to illustrate the LEPTOCERIDAE.

As to your other Caddisfly, I cannot help. I am not able to decide based on the information you have researched. I have no depth of knowledge of the other Caddisflies to compare it with.

If you are certain of your ID, I will accept it and add the family to BugFiles, but I will leave the decision to you,

Thanks Ken, I have seen many pics and done a lot of searcing. There is only two Genus in the Family GLOSSOSOMATIDAE here containing 6 species, the description of one doesn't fit, I have found one of the other two species of Agapetus and it's black. There is only Agapetus ochripes listed on funet.fi, and I found it is very common here.

http://www.funet.fi/pub/sci/bio/life/insecta/trichoptera/glossosomatidae/agapetus/index.html

I would like to add it as Agapetus ochripes. The chances of it being the other species are probably nix, and it does match up to the pic I found, the site has many and seems to be reliable.

One final thing I found about the other species, Agapetus delicatulus seems to be local in the Pyrennes Scotland :)

That's fine. I have created an entry for Agapetus ochripes here: http://davesgarden.com/guides/bf/go/5426/
so go ahead and add your image and I will then ad it to the index,

Thanks Ken, picture added!

Thanks Janet, it now illustrated the family in the index,
