Thank you plantladylin!
Newbie to Hoyas, Need help please!
Can let you hold that info over my head!!! LOL!!! Anyone that knows me understands completely!!! Those wonderful senior moments!!!!
Who know my sis better than I? LOL, hi Jeri. Clemen little sis.! you're busted!!! LOL, welcome to our hoyas' enthusiasts circle.
Just a note of encouragement to Clemen, hoyas from cuttings that being shared among ourselves, they bloom sooner than others. Why?, because our cuttings are from mature specimen. I shared a few cuttings with Bonnie, she stated that those cuttings gave blooms this summer. Yeppie! Next spring, after frost bring them outdoor and hang them under shade structure, but allow filter, bright light. More likely those 'spurs' will reward you with blooms.
Kim
Hi Sis!!! You found us!!! Where you been?
This wasn't a spur, it's a bloom just before popping if it doesn't shatter from being cut. So Clem you are starting out with a bloom already!!!
I am so antsy now, maybe I can pretend I am sick and leave work early so that I can see that little bud, lol! Hi Kim, so if Jeri is your sister, that means she is mine too, lol, so am I the little sista?
Yes, we're all related. lol. Jeri is almost my twin, so yes you're the littel sister. lol. Jeri, I've been doing well. Just taking thing easy.
sniff, just got home and I do not see any buds! grrrrrrrrrrrrrr
Look very close. I didn't see them until I was packing them.
Look on the H. Curtsii, I think. The cumminglana was rooted so I know it wasn't that one.
ok ok, going now, i hope that is not the one that i made cuttings so it would grow bigger, grrrrrrrrrr
Yeah, i cut that one into smaller pieces, i must now dig it up from the dirt and see, more grrrrrrrrrrrr
Clem you sound just like a bear!!! LOL!!!
I am Jeri, BUT, I looked like you said, took pics for you, and I do see that beautiful tiny looking thing, I had buried it under the dirt, so what do i do now, like I said, I cut the cuttings into pieces???? I am leaving them in water now, no dirt anymore, grrrrrrrrrrr, ha ha ha!

Clemen,
Too funny that we were once neighbors! Freeport is right next to Merrick! I now work in New Hyde Park (at LIJ), which is not too far from Garden City. Small world :)
And yes, we do have lots in common. Aside from hoyas and being neighbors and me having the same name as your daughter, we both love our fur kids. Mine is named Sawyer and she is the love of my life.
Sunbathing...
Oooh, I love y'alls doggie photo's! I want a dog so badly!
Clemen: Your "Copo" is adorable! Is he a Bichon? We have a neighbor who has one and Copo looks a bit like their "Brandi".
Gabi: "Sawyer" is a handsome guy too! I love Labs, they make great family pets.
My husband and I are down to 3 old cats and as soon as they are gone to kitty heaven we will adopt another canine into the family! We have always loved labs and would love a Chocolate Lab! We had a Black Lab many, many years ago ... they are such great dogs! My oldest sister and her husband have a pure bred Yellow Lab, a mix breed Black Lab/Rottweiler mix and a pure bred English Mastiff (over 200 lbs!) My youngest sister has a Golden Retriever and an English Springer Spaniel. We seem to be BIG dog people, although I've always wanted a little Yorkshire Terrier and we did have a little part poodle, part mutt once who thought he was king of the world, which I've heard is poodle mentality! At the time we also had a german shepherd/lab mix and a pure bred Alaskan Malamute. The little dog had to be kept separate because he picked fights with the big dogs.
Clemen ~ the bud is not the same as a spur. The spur is where blooms have been. Be careful not to pinch those spurs off as they will bloom again and again on them. One of my older Hoyas has bloom spurs that are 3/4 inch long. Good luck with your treasures.
GAbiiiii, a gardener friend near me, UNHEARD OF, the closest one I have from DG 1 hour and 40 minutes from here, and my other great one 3 hours away! Wow, you are right next door, let's go to lunch sometime during your break, love your puppy so CUTE!
Plantladylin, yes my son is a darling Bichon, although i shoud say he is half Central American / half spaniard, lol, that is where both of us are from hubbie and me!
OK waiting to hear news from trouble maker Jeri, she created this big headache for me,lol, but i got to meet all of you, HOW WONDERFUL!

Howdy, Clemen. Best of luck with your hoyas. Send some positive vibes my way for the plumeria and Brazilian cloak plant, two new plants for me. Due to the mix up with our packages, we've both ended up with some new plants to enoy. :D

I forgot about my Lipstick "Rasta" ... had that plant for @ 2 1/2 years and all of a sudden it started going downhill real quick and is no more. :(
I see you ladies have met!!! See the trouble I cause!!! Clem has met a fellow gardener in her own back yard and everybody got hoyas or will get shortly!!! LOL!!!!
Wow Lin, had no idea she blooms, now I am even more excited! Jeri THANK YOU, lol! See and at the beginning of the post I was being so timid and did not want to talk about guilty party!

JERIIIIIII Trouble maker!
Oh, Clem ... did you get a Lipstick Plant? Yeah, they bloom. Just give it lots of bright light but no direct sun.
LOL, Jeri. I think I met Clemen on the Orchid Cactus forum a month or so ago!
I've enjoyed getting to know her and we kid back and forth!!!! She got me this time thought!!!!
Oooh, that is a gorgeous bloom!
Ha ha haa! love you guys, friendly not like some other forums, grrrrrrrrrrrrr, I've been there and GONE!
Show me yours now, i forgot or should I revive them, love to cause TROUBLE!
Clemen, this is what a hoya's spur looks like. See the protrusion along the stem? That is where flower being formed, when the flowers or florets (tiny individual flowers fade) fade and drop, new flowers will be forming at the same spur, that's why we don't trim those spurs off. In many way, plumeria inflorescent behaves similiarly, faded flowers drop, new ones will take their places, thus experienced growers caustion to avoid trimming them off.
Love those QOTN blooms. :-)
