From previous threads, actually two different threads regarding the above subjects posted from awhile back....

and some other threads regarding "early call"
So From my understanding/reading, the Original "Sunrise Mix" from Burpee is comprised of Sakata Akatsuki series. Then they have changed their marketing name to "Burpee's Best Mix" which included I.nil and I. purpurea mixture, mostly the latter. and then they changed the name to "Sunrise Mix" again but still included the I. nil and I.purpurea mixture instead of mostly Sakata's Akatsuki series? They are still selling them on their website for half price and was wondering if it'll be worth it purchasing them (I don't think they ship to Canada so I'll have to get them shipped to NY and then get them pass the border, which I think is a hassle for $3.00) or wait for spring and see if walmart/home depot has them (none of these stores sells seeds during winter here =( )
and regarding Early Call mixtures: there are I. nil Early Call and a different mix for I. purpurea Early Call mixture? how would I know which one is which? Early call mixture is currently being sold on ebay as of now and the pictures they have posted looked like they are I.nils.
Eliz
"Sunrise Mix" and "Early Call Mix" update please
Eliz I have a Burpee store I go to in Jan. for my seeds if they have them I will get them for you. It will only be postage for you. I haven't gotten my catalog but will check it as soon as it gets here and let you know.
Ronnie
Thanks Ronnie, I didn't mean to imply I need seeds from you guys but if you are ordering something from Burpee I would be interested in acquiring some seeds from you for postage.
Eliz, I usually go the the outlet in early Jan. to get other seeds. If you are still looking for them I will pick some up. Never a problem!
The seeds in the last "Sunrise Mix" that I purchased from Burpee were all Ipomoea nil...I will see what they produce when I get them grown out...
The "Early Call" is a common marketing term and cannot be relied upon to indicate what will be in the packets...
The "Early Call" in the 60's was usually Ipomoea nil,but since the Ipomoea nil are generally more expensive, the early call seems to have gradually progressed to include more Ipomoea purpurea and is more often all Ipomoea purpurera...
Hope that helps...
Ron
hehhe ditto to joseph. I love deals, reason why I asked the question but the shipping part i sometimes don't like =/
