Texas Fall Foliage

East of Nacogdoches, TX(Zone 8a)

This week, in fact right now, is a very good time to drive the roads of Deep East Texas.

The beautiful fall foliage east of Nacogdoches seem to be at it's peak and this year seem especially brilliant. Lots of strong yellows, some orange, red and burgandy.

www.visitnacogdoches.org has general information for you.

Your welcome htop. Really, the scenery is spirit lifting.

planolinda, www.maps.gooogle.com says 3 hrs, 11 mins. If you come, let me know, we'll have tea.

We do not have much fall foliage color here. I wish we could take a nice drive so we could enjoy it there.

We were going to head up toward the Lost Maples area, but then the weatherman on TV started telling everyone the fall color is great this year and encouraging people to go. I could just imagine the crowds! So we'll wait. My own Bigtooth Maple doesn't ever get color until a bit later in the year, but the Texas Ash in the back is starting to get a nice puplish color. And the flameleaf sumac out here is looking pretty good along the roads!

Oh, I'm envious, Linda--that purple is beautiful! My Texas ashes are yellow when they turn. Pretty too, but I've never seen a purple one like that.

Linda, you could always just drive towards Lost Maples. The scenery will still be pretty! Don't wait too long, though. All the leaves will fall with the first good, strong wind and rain to come through.

When my Bigtooth Maple does turn color later it will be a nice peachy color, but not the reddish colors that some of those have. I might still go to Lost Maples, but it would have to be on a weekday.
