Saw this tree near San Antonio . . . . spent an hour at the library today with 3 books trying to identify it. I'm sure someone out there knows what it is! Will post 2 pics. Thanks!
Tree ID please?
Paulownia. An invasive weed tree in your area.
Resin
Hard to tell the size of the leaf, but it looks to me like syringa reticulata, the tree lilac. Makes a great street tree. From what is left of the flower inflorescence and the shape of the leaf, that is my guess. Look at Google images and see if it matches. 'Ivory Silk' is the most common cultivar
With those buds, definitely Paulownia!
Resin
I'm with Resin, definitely looks like Paulownia to me. The leaf shape isn't quite right for lilac, plus I don't think you'll find too many lilacs in San Antonio.
Thanks to all - what would we do without our gardening friends?!
