Question on determining the pattern of mgs

Toronto, ON(Zone 5b)

Hi,

As posted from before, I got my first few blooms of Xiongs =). Now, how would one determine the pattern? is it based on what you see with your eyes or what your camera sees? I don't have the pics yet for my blooms..I've lost my card reader so can't transfer pics to the comp right now. What I see on the first and second vine are solid magenta/pinkish blooms with picotee edge. When I took pictures, the blooms on the first vines still have the picotee edge and similar hue on the corolla, but on the pictures I also see a purplish "ray".

On the blooms from the second vine, I took at a different time of the day, it came out as a purple bloom with a magenta decolored crest.

Any tips for taking pictures of mgs for catalog purposes (accurate pictures)?

Try to use natural light, and not the flash. The flash seems to wash out the colour leaving you with an inaccurate representation of the flower's attributes.

Hi Joseph,

yes, for my last bloom, the camera captured the colour more accurately than my other pics without using the flash which is great! thanks for the suggestion Joseph....now just saving a bit of money to get a better camera and printer..........
