This beetle which I thought would be Megasoma has a problem flying. When they take to flight they crash land and often land up on their backs. Thousands litter the streets. They come into the house and cause quite a ruckus.
I believe that they are responsible for pollinating some of my woodland plants whose "flowers" don't have petals. They are plant eaters so this makes sense.
I can't find this one with this head configuration.

You will be surprised to find that many bugs are like that - take beetles - we have staghorn beetles that would crash into anything on a summer evening and you can image the surprise when they crash in someone.
