Is this an earwig? Can anyone ID the species? I found it in India two months ago.

There are a large number of earwig species reported from India and I certainly cannot identify this one. You might try searching for the works of G.K. Srivastava “Fauna of India and the Adjacent Countries: Dermaptera” - see https://www.bagchee.com/books.php?id=15246. The standard reference on this group still seems to be a now nearly century-old work in the “Fauna of British India” series by Malcolm Burr - see http://www.archive.org/stream/dermapteraearwig00burr/dermapteraearwig00burr_djvu.txt
