:( love that guy!!

I never heard that. I used to watch him all the time. I always enjoyed his cooking programs. He sure did like his foods 'hot'. He was something else.

Thanks for letting us know, Lisa

I'll miss him too, Lisa, he was one of my very favorites. I just loved his stories, just like HorseShoes!

I also just heard this. I used to love to watch him on PBS and haven't seen him for years.

He was 87 and died peacefully in his sleep at his home in Baton Rouge.

Oh my...I had hoped to see more of him for yrs to come. I never realized he was 87! Just think, to be able to eat like that (and wash it down with wine!) and live to such a nice age! And to top it off, a peaceful exit. Hope PBS or somebody does a special on him and his life. (And thanks "eyes"...a nice compliment!)

BUMMER! I loved his show. I think it is still on here on Saturday mornings.

High Springs, FL(Zone 8b)

He taught me how to cook rice...

Murfreesboro, TN(Zone 7a)

Oh! I'm so sorry to hear the news. My boys were at a very impressionable age when I used to watch him each Saturday morning on PBS, and for the longest time, they thought onion was pronounced awn-YAWN.

My husband & I had the privilege of meeting & talking with him. You couldn't ask for a nicer person.

I know he's gone to the great kitchen in the sky. Really put the cajun language on the map for me. I had never been exposed to it. I loved to watch him and didn't even know where the stove in our kitchen was. Didn't even know we had a kitchen now that I think about it. Thanks Lisa for posting.

He sure will be missed by many' Hope his shows
stay for future cooks to learn, one of a kind,
he was'

I was really saddened to hear this. I have watched him for many, many years. Really enjoyed his wit and humor! I have a couple of his cookbooks that I use quite frequently.
RIP Justin! :(

I always wanted to sit down and just listen to him whenever he was on... and I have sat with pen and paper and faithfully written down recipes... what a sweetheart. What a character. I bet the Lord is enjoying him now!
