When will we be able to eat these bananas? How do I know if they're ready to be picked?
Banana question
Those are looking good!!!
Yes they are, good enough to eat!
How cool is that? Try checking over at the Tropical Gardening Forum - several people over there grow them.
Oh, good idea Kathleen!
Hi weegy;
As per usual, I'm slow getting here. You might want to prop up that bunch of bananas. I didn't and it got too heavy and crashed to the ground. They weren't any good for eating after that. You can pick them when they start to turn yellow, and store in a dry place til nearly ripe. Then start giving them away. You won't be able to eat them all before they start turning mushy. Although, you can bake them into Banana Nut Bread.
Hope you already found help, but if you didn't, I hope this helps.
Do you want a pineapple pup? Mine had babies.

Hmmmm, a pineapple pup! Sure!
Thanks for the advice on the bananas, I'd hate to lose them. Want some banana bread?!?!?
Did you guys know you can freeze over-ripe bananas to use later in breads?
Nope! I sure didn't. Oh, I forgot to tell you to cut the whole stalk down, then you can cut off the individual bunches. Mine were good to the taste, just too many at once. I didn't know you could freeze them. I love Banana Bread. I will save one of the pups for you Weegy. I'll make sure you get it for the March RU. I think I have three pups so I have one more to find a home for.
Got to go!

Thank you SW!
Yes Kathleen, I had heard you can freeze bananas for use in banana bread later and have done it. Maybe I'll be bringing banana bread to Kathleen's too.
Thanks for all of your help.
Any time! I don't know what I'd do without you ladies! : }

I'd love a pup if it's still available, SW. I lost my beautiful banana plant in the big freeze.
Ok, It's got your name on it girlfriend! No more pups. Do you want another Banana? Mine is sending up shoots that I will have to remove because it is outgrowing the space allowed. I'll ask EB#1 if we can start one of those shoots for you. He has the flu, so I am staying away from him, til he's better.
I am sending a picture of my dwarf banana that was taken this past spring. It was so happy being planted in the ground in the greenhouse that I got four stalks full of banana bunches. I don't know what EB#1 was feeding it, but I'm going to have him feed the banana again, 'cause he missed out on all the bananas while he was away with the Nat'l Guard. I took pictures, but it isn't the same as seeing with your own eyes.
ES and I have to start tagging the Christmas Trees, I am taking my camera, will get pics.

Wow, SW!
Yes do take pictures!
Wow, indeed! I'm speechless! Yes, thank you, SW.
My poor little greenhouse wouldn't stand a chance, but there's always frost cloth. LOL!!
That's a very nice greenhouse--I'm definitely jealous! Of course the pool takes up valuable space that you could be using for plants, but otherwise it looks perfect! LOL
I only have the green house because of the pool. Very Dusty where I live. I have fibromyalgia, and can't take the chill either. In the summer I do laps in the pool, in the winter around it. I do wish I had more space in there for plants, and am thinking about shelving on a pulley system to increase the useable space. I am very fortunate to have one at all. Do come visit if you can some day. You might have some good ideas to share!

I'm coming for a visit very soon, cannot wait to see it!
Where are you weegy? I was worried what with the fires close to you! Are you back home? Just happy to hear from you, and you are always welcome.
WIB,
SW
I am home now, we were in AZ for a few days. The fires were not close at all to us. Thank you for your concern.
Good to know.
WIB,
SW
