Beautiful photos...wonderful tour, syrumani. Thanks for posting your trip to the botanical gardens.
Lin, your trees are lovely. We saw a tree blooming in Florida last week. Are we right that it's called a Rain Tree?
October OT
Yes, the Golden Rain Trees are everywhere. The blooms are yellow and the pods turn the pretty pink color.

I see PF says this tree is hardy even in zone 5! http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/1778/ I remember 40 years ago my MIL had a beautiful one in her yard in Orlando ... she despised the mess it made though, little seedlings popping up all over the lawn! They are beautiful but can be a pest and invasive in some areas.
Thanks for the tour! I really enjoyed it! ^_^
I see...thanks for the link. I didn't get too close and I thought all that pink was blossoms. Now I see they are pods. Maybe I'll look for one of those Golden Rain Trees. I'll keep in mind about the invasive part. I'm sure in Florida, things could become a pest very easily with the ideal growing conditions.
When I lived in Las Cruces, New Mexico going to school (as an adult) the botanical gardens on the campus had the most beautiful Golden Rain Trees. Las Cruces is almost desert conditions. I am going to look it up and see where it grows.
Gail, I do believe the Golden Raintree grows in some parts of Texas. Scroll down to the bottom of the page in Plant Files and check out the areas: http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/1778/
This tree is prolific down here in Central Florida ... I see them everywhere. Never notice them until they are in full bloom or have the gorgeous pink pods. They are so pretty but a nuisance tree.
OK.......thanks. I went to New Mexico State Botanical Gardens but couldn't find any information and I may have the tree mixed up with another one.
Gail, I found this when googling: http://www.mswn.com/MSWN%20Sep%20Oct%2005.pdf
I bet it was the Parkinsonia trees you saw in NM ... they are really gorgeous too! I used to see a few around here too, pretty yellow blooms, common name"Jerusalem Thorn" and they have Thorns! Big Thorns!

I just remembered the name of the right tree. It was called a smoke tree. Now I have to find the right botanical name. She was gorgeous...........with puffs of greyish pink ..............
Oh, I know of the smoke tree ... don't have them here but they have pretty pinkish gray blooms ... looks like smoke! Beautiful trees! http://images.google.com/images?hl=en&q=images+of+smoke+tree&um=1&ie=UTF-8&sa=X&oi=image_result_group&resnum=1&ct=title
There are a couple listed in PF: http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/b/Anacardiaceae/Cotinus/none/cultivar/0/
There it is! I love that tree. Thanks, Lin. Cotinus Obovata if I remember........
Cotinus obovatus/American Smoke Tree: http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/1608/
What a great tree! http://images.google.com/images?hl=en&q=images+of+cotinus+obovatus&um=1&ie=UTF-8&sa=X&oi=image_result_group&resnum=1&ct=title
Isn't she pretty? I used to go sit in the gardens just to look at her!
Thanks for that second link.
I've just gotta share these pix . . .
My guy at one point got caught up in a group of bigger kids, and got a bit ahead of me and DD . . . I'm sure I looked like a crazy woman running down the street pushing the stroller ahead of me, saying we have to keep up with Batman! It got too much at one point, and I'm just hollering his name, and I hear him calling for me, but he doesn't hear me . . . some nice lady closer to him showed him where I was (all of 30 feet away, I think) waving my arms, etc. . . . he stayed pretty close the rest of the night!

Cute! The kids have more fun dressing up and getting all that candy. Looks like they got a lot of treats.
Nice Halloween pics! These are the times to remember...she said wistfully. So much fun!
those are really cute, Syrmani! Glad you share them with us! I remember those adorable children from when you came by my house.
Oh, those are the sweetest photo's of your beautiful young un's! Such cute costumes too. Aaah ... youth! They look like they had a lot of fun trick or treating with that haul of goodies!
We have not had Trick or Treaters in a few years! I buy candy and then send it with my hubby to the college kids!
Yes, mommy and daddy are happy with their haul. They may even get to have some of it! LOL! Guess what they had for breakfast? One chance . . . It was all portioned out, though . . . x amount in their buckets has to last a certain amount of time, then no more for a while.
cute kids, Syrumani. Loooks like they did OK with all that loot. We had kids comming up till 9:30 last night. I couldn't believe the older ones. It looks like they are getting into the fun of it too! We went thru six pounds of candy. It didn't seem to be as busy as last year though. Lots of different children this year. We didn't see some of the children that used to come every year. Either they moved away, or grew up.
Awesome picture,i had them growing in my yard when I lived in Hawaii, and they were every bit that big ,not as nicely varigated ,at least I think so,saw them when I was in the military down in Honduras, now i wasnt growing but I still remembered my mom growing those, does any one grow the varigated arrowhead plants
