Can you add the order, Hymenoptera, and the family

Coon Rapids, MN(Zone 4a)

Ran out of space - the family Andrenidae.

There's a mining bee in BugFiles listed in Apidae... maybe it should bee in Andrenidae too?

The order Hymenoptera already exists, and many Families are being clumped into Apidae, see this thread:

Yes but at the risk of spilling my brain/spaghetti, the family Andrenidae isn't one that's being included in Apidae, at least by the system that wikipedia is using that Ken referred to. I don't know.

Lol, join my pile of spaghetti on the floor!

These are the Families, and Anthophoridae is there with one entry, that is now included in Apidae. I guess the one entry is left because the Family is still there!

So Andrenidae will go in Apidae :)))

Coon Rapids, MN(Zone 4a)

Okay - bugguides still list it as hymenoptera - wonder what's up with that?

Lincoln, United Kingdom(Zone 8a)

Hymenoptera is the Order, then Families come under that.

If you go to BugFiles, look for Hymenoptera part 2 (Bees) thenclick on that.

No I meant that when I tried to add it as a new entry yesterday the program refuse to recognize the order Hymenoptera.

Lincoln, United Kingdom(Zone 8a)

It would only refuse it if you tried to add it under the Family Andrenidae as we don't have that family. Try again with Apidae as the Family, or did you do that?

Coon Rapids, MN(Zone 4a)

Oh okay. I will do that

The taxonomy of the bee families is very confusing, but I think we should stick with Apidae for the bees classified by some as Andrenidae.

I have corrected the one bee still recoded as Anthophoridae and moved it into the Apidae as well and will get the family Anthophoridae deleted from the index,

Ken

Thanks Ken, that's what was confusing me!

Okay - thanks. Let hope this didn't turn out like the mums!
