Last night our almost 2 year old Kenmore hot water heater went out ( as it often does ) and this time we could not get the pilot light re-lit. This morning D.H. was able to get the pilot light on but we thought it would be good to get a repairman over to check it. This is a recurrent problem and they've been here before. D.H. can't really work on it himself because they have some "safety features" that you have to have special tools for or risk blowing up the house, I guess. This time when he called Sears he was transferred to a " rapid resolution service center " somewhere in Central America, maybe Guatemala. We thought, good, it's closer than India. D.H. talked to a person who transferred the call to the U.S. Then, a machine transferred the call to India. Someone in India transferred the call to the U.S. A machine moved the call back to India, again, where a person eventually took the call and moved it to another call center in India. By then my D.H. was laughing hysterically! At that point someone in India came on and made an appointment for a Sears serviceman to call us Wednesday morning. D.H. says he thinks he talked to at least 5 humans and 3 machines. It took about half an hour which isn't too bad considering that the call went half way around the world!
Trying to get a Sears repairman to look at appliance...
LOL don't you just love it...lol...
My pet peave is calling Bell Canada information...our telephone provider...all automated, starts off asking if you want english or french (ok that's a reasonable question) business or residence (ok that's a reasonable question) name (again reasonable question) then it comes on and says it found the #...now the aggravating part "DO YOU WANT THE NUMBER" hello, why would I have called in the first place...dah...
Hope you find solutions for the heater...wouldn't want you blowing up..
ROTFLOL I'm laughing because it's happened to us, as well!
There is a happy ending (though probably a temporary one)! The Sears repairman in our area, who had been to our house before, called around noon today. He came over about an hour later, cleaned out dirt that had blown in to the heater through the pipes and fixed it! He said there is a design flaw that causes the problem. And, it turns out, the heater is still under warranty, so no charge! Glad we didn't have to wait until Wednesday.
At least you did not have to pay $15.00 per call to talk to a live person as they do at Direct Tv.
sometimes it works to just push the O for the operator, or enter wrong information or no information to get a human voice.
Hi Roybird.
Hope you get your water heater fixed. Mine is electric and one of the burners is out.
About 5 g of hot water is all there is.
Hi Gloria, good to hear from you but sorry your water heater is messed up. Ours is currently working. Hemental, I never heard of that. Those pirates!
