I found this guy clinging to the iron fence in front of my house. He was above some confederate jasmine and creeping fig. Below an oak tree.
He is pretty handsome until you see his belly. He looks like a grub on the bottom, with a white segmented body, many legs, a darkish "mouth" at one end (opposite the "tail" you can see in the pic).
We live in New Orleans.
What is this? Is it good to have around? for dogs?

It looks like a flannel moth larva - be careful, they have a painful sting!
