Tell us what's been going on in your violet world, av_ocd_girl? Is your collection building up?

Well, Goldleaf my collection is growing nicely. I've got Strep babies peeking up. Thanks to Gail. Everything I got from our fall gessie trade is doing very well. I'll have to get busy and take some pictures. I ran into Home Depot last week to pick up a latch and, of course, I just had to look through the plants. I ended up buying 4 EverFloris violets. I got Praise, Love, Precious, and Joy. Great stroke of luck!

On the minus side.......a few plants that I got from my club had mites, so now I've got to break out the Avid and spray my whole collection. Drat!

I'm afraid I have been on ebay again............got in real trouble there before. But I'm trying to keep control of myself now. My collection is growing; I've got about 25 AVs and about that many leaves down. About a dozen streps, and about 30 leaves down. I've gotten a really good start back to having a great collection, all thanks to the wonderful, generous people on this forum.

You are so right about the wonderful generous people on this forum, Rox. I am amazed at how many gessies I have in such a short time. I am starting over with my collection also. Maybe it's a good thing the weather is so cold now as I can't get in as much trouble for months to come. Gail has sent me lots of strep leaves and other gessies and of course mrsbonnie, plantladylin, jannich have added to my joy. Cedarnest had some nice strep leaves that I purchased on the DG Marketplace. Love that.
As far as violets go, I have tons of leaves planted and a few are starting to pop up already from 9/29.
Are you going to the maavs convention? I plan to and am hoping to pick up plants there. Good to be able to see them in person and choose what appeals.
Good find on the EverFloris violets. Nice ruffld leaves on those. They are my favs of Optimara aside from the old named series minis they used to have.
Have a great day...glad you're back.

Happy Halloween everyone!

WOW!!! You are coming to MAAVS from California! Now that is a truely dedicated violeteer! I hope to be able to go. I had planned on it, but life happens.......you know how that goes. I may just drive up on Sat. to go shopping. Don't know yet.

Oh! I love the optimara minis. I used to have about 1/2 of them. Now I've got a couple of leaves down. Hope to build my collection of them back up. They just grow so well, and I've never had a problem with them suckering. I've still got a long way to go, but getting there is half the fun! ; )

I'll be at maavs on saturday. If I think of it, I'll let you know what I am wearing...color of top or maybe a scarf so if you see me, you'll say hi. That would be great to meet up.
I liked it when optimara had their varieties named and loved the mini series like the little 'jewels' and the little 'indians' like your pic which is adorable. I still have a bunch of the acrylic water wells for them.

GoldLeaf, We've got to meet up on Saturday. That would be soooo great. Susan51 and I are driving up together and will be staying overnight Friday night and not leaving until Sat. afternoon. If you are free for lunch maybe the three of us can get together. Are you a speaker at the convention?

I am sooooooo jealous about your great upcoming convention!

Land of OZ, CT(Zone 6a)

Gold leaf--where did you find acrylic wells? I am assessing wicking options, mostly for mini's. And Gail...I'm jealous too! And I live close enough to go!

Frederick, MD(Zone 7a)

av_ocd_girl...if all goes well, we will meet up at the convention. You gals will have so much fun. Looking forward to it.

Phoebe...I have had these water wells for I don't know how long and wouldn't know where to find them offhand or if they are still being made.
