Oh my gosh, 400? Now I am jealous. Where are you growing them? That must take up alot of space once they get a little bigger. Do you sell them professionally or as a hobbyist? I imagine there is a big demand for them. And thank you for the offer and the advice.

ive sold them before on ebay,but i really just like to trade,its kinda of a hassle with my new job to sell,(sometimes trading )i just like to trade these days,or get a newbie hooked on streps,thats fun,makes me remember when i was first starting out,
they do take room but I keep them trimmed up for the most part,its fun lots of the collection are babies,Ive gotten from trading

Well, this newbie would love to trade sometime bigoldbuck (when I actually have something to trade with!) First I need to see if I can keep the one I have alive. When I received it one of the leaves was just hanging there by a thread, but I remembered an article about propagation and I am trying to start the leaf (cut it in 3 pieces and domed them.) I must peek 10 times a day. I KNOW I won't see anything for months but I worry about it wilting or rotting. One of these days I might get a surprise.
I read that you lost most of your streps awhile back, that would be a difficult blow.

Hi There;
The strep i sent you was not bagged, but you can keep a bag on it , make sure the bag is open so it will adjust to your surroundings,you can mist them, they love it. just let it get dry to the touch before you water it. even if it wilts, it will come back with a little drink.my humidity is 49%, thats on a good day.

Thank you Mrsbonnie,

I will mist her. I am glad to know they like a shower. I am guessing that I do not continually have the wick in water then? How long should I "wick" the water up before removing? Until visable moisture?
Our humidity is not even close to that. I really don't know what it is but if you leave bread out, within minutes the edges start to get dry. Never have a problem with an open bag of potato chips though!

you always leave the wick in the water, this way it drinks as much as it wants.if you should see that it wilts with the wick in the water, check to see if it got to wet or the wick stopped working, these things do happen sometimes, so just keep an eye on the plant.

Bonnie..............you don't wick when they are domed in any way...........they will start wilting and die...........that is too much water..................you can wick them when they are not domed.................I am butting in but I can't imagine wicking a strep in a dome of any kind...............(maybe the wicking cord is in the pot but not in water)

Ottawa, IL(Zone 9a)

no i don't wick while domed.
